I just dont see it. They will pursue their solo careers, and those are reliant on health already.

Having said that, everyone would love to see a peaceful pairing of Gregg and Dickey again.

Do you think Butch''s passing is the final nail in the coffin for any supposed reunion that was being considered?

Ouch!

Yes, and I hope so too. It would only damage their reputation and devalue their legacy.

Reading between the lines, I think that Butch was probably the main - if not the only - advocate of a reunion.

Maybe a gig for Butch and the proceeds going to his wife. Other than that , I would leave it alone.

I find the original poster's first question highly inappropriate.

I can't see a reunion happening. I think it was Butch who was really pushing for one. For me, I will remember all the great music and great shows I got to go to. RIP Butch.

The sentiment of the question may be too soon, but not inappropriate.

The phrasing of the question was inappropriate.

We haven't even heard of any memorial services or if we did I didn't see any mention....too soon...I can tell you it was the farthest thing from my mind and surprised that anyone would raise the question with so many unanswered questions about what exactly happened....

Has there been any word of a funeral or memorial for Butch??

While I am an pretty informed on death, I am not very expert at death protocol. But it seems to me this type of loss may involve no notice, no public information, no open service, and no word. For me, I assume it is family and private, and probably is happening or happened. It would invite spectacle if announced and I wouldn't do that if me. Just my uninvited four bits.

If there are IRS bills to be paid, a run of Beacon shows featuring Gregg, Jaimoe, Warren, Jack, Chuck & Oteil (and hopefully Derek & Dickey) plus maybe Duane Trucks & Jimmy Herring would sell out immediately and seem to be a good source to raise $$. Calling it the Allman Brothers would bring in the most money

I know it's not my role to tell them what's appropriate or to volunteer someone else's time. Plus, health isn't on the side of all involved.

I have no questions - no wish nor right to know any more about an intensely private matter.

I'm not looking for gory details....more the why he would do this and how you can go from a radio interview talking about the future to ending it....as far as family privacy I'm all for it again I'm not looking for details I guess a funeral announcement or memorial is more for closure...

Seems to me when a family asks that you respect their privacy then that is what they mean. They don't owe the public any announcements about funerals or burial arrangements or memorials or any clarity on what for them is a devastating event on so many levels far beyond any fan's sadness.

I'm all about giving people the benefit of the doubt, so keep in mind that the originator of this post begins with a disclaimer about not trying to be insensitive before you condemn him/her. That being said, I would not have posted such a question on this forum at this point in time. I do, however, understand goldtop's curiosity. I'm sure many of us have wondered if the band will do any type of tribute show to benefit Butch's wife & family - that is the extent of a lot of our curiosity. Suicide is a tough topic to discuss with family and close friends, so imagine the range of feelings fans may be experiencing and how arguments can easily start. Hopefully, many of us have not experienced the type of grief the Trucks family is dealing with right now, so it may be best to just sit back and see how the band members respond when and if they feel compelled to do something.

Exactly. I saw via a google search how TMZ actually released the 9-1-1 call and this should never have been done at all or released like this ever. I feel for Butch's wife and family. Their finances are a private issue as well too.

I don't see any of the surviving members of the Allmans getting back together or doing any sort of benefit, etc. I'll remember them for the shows I went to through the decades which included Beacon shows before they became just another extremely expensive live music event in NYC.

I despise TMZ. I also hate that 911 calls are made public record for them to even throw on the air and sensationalize what is likely the worst day in someones life.

It's a healthy thing that people can come on a board and openly discuss their questions and feelings.
I believe there was more than just money involved.
Bottom line is this was an extremely angry and selfish act.
So all the people who loved Butch have a wide range of emotions right now.
Anger. sadness, shock.
Many people have ongoing issues having already experienced the suicide of someone close to them.
So it's OK to ask questions and express how you feel.
It's not OK to keep those emotions and feelings bottled up with nowhere to go with them.
I think people on this board can understand better than most how devastating this was to a lot of good people.

Griff, you have some points. Both times when I lost sons, people asked what seemed the most rude questions, at first. Delving, detail needed stuff..... It upset me. It confused me. It hurt. THEN, I realized the truth. They were grappling with trying to understand, that's all. Like a plausible explanation will somehow make it make sense, fall in a place, and they can then digest the large thing they can not. It is just human stuff, people trying to figure out life, and death.
