that's ok, there is nothing that can be done to stop it. moving them or protecting them from from it is built into the budget. {sarc}

It looks like the entire piece was written by the Union of Concerned Scientists. They are anti fossil fuel, pro electric vehicle (which uses mainly power made by fossil fuels), anti-big agriculture, but are all for using bio fuels (guess who grows the large amount of soybeans, peanuts, and corn used to make the bio fuel), and definitely pro
wind farms (guess they don't like hawks or eagles) and nuclear power (maybe they like to glow in the dark).

Mainly they are very pro "give us money", asking on every page for at least a $20 contribution.

No, it was written by Meghann Myers, staff writer of [Navy Times] I know you are a climate science denier but, the US Navy and the pentagon are very worried about national security, and climate change is the biggest threat to national security besides trump.

What part of IT LOOKS LIKE don't you understand. I didn't say it was written by them.

PS: I don't deny that the Earth is warming, it's been continuously warming since the end of the last ice age.
I just don't fall for the chicken little attitude.
The USGS reports that the period from 1850 to 1910 was the coldest period of global cooling, but the glaciers in Glacier Bay, Alaska were reported (US Coast and Geodetic Survey) to be retreating over eleven feet per DAY during that period! What are they reported to be retreating now?
In 1911, Alpine glaciers were reported to have shrunk back by up to 85 feet per year, one (Zigornuovo) with a 10 year decline of 904 feet. How much have they shrunk in the past 10 years?
The Earth continues to warm, as it always has after an ice age, until the beginning of the next ice age.

Don’t worry. I‘m sure the alarmists at the Pentagon and the military-industrial complex already have some exciting new plans for how they will spend trillions of our tax dollars over the next 50 years to save us all from the climate change bogey man. And all the climate realists will be labeled as unpatriotic since “national security" is at stake.

Yep, I know…anyone who disagrees with your liberal/progressive view of the world and the “proven/settled” scientific models must be a an uneducated, racist GOP hick. Sorry to disappoint you, but I despise Republicans, and don’t believe a word they say. And Republicans are typically very passionate supporters of the Pentagon and the military-industrial complex…right? I obviously am not. So try again. Maybe it’s just that I don’t have as much faith in the reliability of the scientific community (and the purity of it’s motives/agenda) as you obviously do, and I refuse to base my politics/worldview on unproven theories. But I’m sure that when I’m drowning in a great tidal flood resulting from the rising ocean levels I will quickly see the error of my ways. Fair enough?

redfish who has ever suggested a tidal flood is coming? by your assessment a theory isn't proven until it has happened.....that is not a smart way to look at scientific theory. your suggestion that science cannot be trusted is pretty weird too. i apologize for talking down to you but you must have better reasoning than that.

Fortunately, the anti-science bunch here are a shrinking segment of the species.

Well, my comment was meant to be sarcastic...I thought that was obvious. However, the Navy article that started this whole discussion makes reference to tidal flooding (did you even read the article being discussed in this thread?), and pops42 also made reference to global warming causing flooding. Pay attention....read the article/thread. And I never suggested that all science can't be trusted. I suggested that the science behind the global warming fear mongering is unproven, and perhaps politically/financially motivated. There are credible scientists on both sides of the debate, some data/models suggest that the earth is actually cooling not warming, differences in opinion on how fast (if even at all) the oceans are warming/rising, etc. There are a lot of useful idiots on both sides of the aisle, and this issue has really become more of a political debate/power grab than a genuine search for scientific truth.

No doubt provided to us compliments of the same reliable survey sources that said Trump did not have a chance.

But if you are in to surveys and that sort of thing...it appears as if the doomsday prophets are losing the battle for young hearts and minds even in spite of all the public school propaganda, and that has to be a sobering thought for progressives...

"In fact, the age group that least agreed with the statement that global warming is a fact and caused by CO2 emissions was that of 18 to 20-year-olds. The assumption that younger US adults are more liberal when it comes to global warming does not hold up; if anything, they are even more skeptical. – Emma Kromm, Harvard Political Review, 29 April 2015

The fact that you attribute climate change to a "liberal agenda" and not scientific evidence, and real events happening right now, tells me all I need to know about you.

There is also scientific evidence to the contrary, scientists on both sides, etc...but never mind about that...I guess only the scientists trotted out by the Dems have any credibility...right? And not sure what these "real events" are that you are referring to? The fact that you base your worldview, your political agenda and your opinions of others on unproven theories...oh, yeah, and the fact that you have anxiety/fear about ocean levels MAYBE rising a few millimeters every century and that you actually buy in to the claim that this is a threat to national security...well, that speaks volumes about you. I'm just thankful that we have all the great intellects on the Left (and on this forum) to save us "rubes" from all the impending doom of global warming and to lead us into that great progressive promised land.

Most people prefer actual science produced by researchers not on the grant receiving end of the Al Gore types and that have no political agenda.
