At some point we have to look at this pattern for what it is. The guy was walking away with his arms raised, for cryin out loud. The comment made by police in defense of their action was he was not obeying commands. The police saw his car while on the way to another call. It was not a traffic stop, his car was stalled, he needed assistance, not a bullet.

It's been bad for quite awhile now -- a 13 year old black kid was shot dead recently by Columbus Ohio police -- there was another killing as well within the last week -- all reported in the media in the same fashion as the Dow Jones report or the weather update........if it's reported at all

yet people look at this & say, oh it's not that bad" -- or come up w/some BS post about "you're saying ALL police are racists????"

Nah, black people have no reason to feel that they live under threat every day of the year..........as the killings continue

Someone on the police chopper cam called him "a big bad dude". A guy who needed help with his stalled car. That's clear, blatant prejudice - if he was white they would have never drawn their firearms. Kaepernick isn't kneeling because of some marines in Afghanistan, he's kneeling because of the few prejudiced armed officers here at home who are allowed to kill the very people they are supposed to protect.

This has gone on forever. Before there were videos of these incidents the police versions of events went undisputed, that is if the incident was reported at all.

Everything that I have seen shows that the victim was cooperating when he was shot. So much for the argument "if they would just do as they are told, they wouldn't get shot."

I've stood against what Kaepernick did during the National Anthem all along. Now here is the violence right here in our faces, again.

The pig socks are what really soured me. However, suddenly pig socks look comparatively minor.............

This was one bad cop who should never have been allowed to be in a situation like this. What is the percentage of NFL players who get arrested as opposed to police officers who get commit crimes?

That's not the pertinent question. What is the percentage of unarmed black men shot by the police as opposed to unarmed white men?

Maybe you haven't heard, but this isn't the first incident, and that is exactly what athletes are peacefully protesting against. Kaepernick has never been arrested for anything, so believe it or not, he (and even people who have been arrested) can freely protest the issue of police officers committing murder and manslaughter (a crime that very few NFL players commit, though irrelevant, but for the record). Just as you too can do, even though I'm sure whatever your profession happens to be, is full of people who have been arrested (but for which, you are not judged for or excluded from public discourse).

It's not the percentage, it's the frequency - isn't 1 innocent dead civilian too many? This guy had car trouble, but police immediately referred to him and treated him as a "big bad dude". That is a quote from the officers in the chopper. That's blatant prejudice. They tased him, and then shot him, and stood around as he died. If he was white, they would never have drawn their guns. Stop clouding the issue. NFL players are not the ones to be scrutinized because they stand against this.

For those who displayed outrage over Colin Kaepernick, how can you possibly deny the racism? These same people will show a fraction of concern for Crutcher and the many others. But it's Kaepernick that really irks them. Just the unwilligness to listen and consider his message is troubling.

Well, there looks to be hard drugs involved. If i had to guess, he realized his stash was in a place in his car that the law would easily see when they rode up on him. He made a play for his car interior, disobeyed the officers, and got shot. He liked to smoke angels dust which is what was found.

And one officer tased him, which if he was slowly disobeying (the car window was closed) might have been appropriate. Not a bullet through his lung.

He did.

She still killed him.

Glad to see she's now charged with first degree manslaughter.

I guess she made a bad judgement call/decision.
Maybe protocols and training needs to be addressed, but these people have to make decisions in the heat of the moment when life or death is on the line.

Do you wait to find out after he makes "a play" for his car interior? It could be to late at that time. Itís instinct to protect yourself. Does it justify in killing him either? No, but certain situations call for certain actions and sometimes the right call is made, or not in this instance. I am not so sure I would judge someone if you have not walked in those shoes and been in a scenario that possibly could threaten your life or others.

Has anyone here faced down the barrel of a gun or have had an intruder in their home they had to deal with it? Itís not a pleasant situation.

You have to be a law abiding citizen when dealing with someone of authority(police) . Do what your told, its not to hard, is it? Some people do not respect that when a situation occurs and unfortunate things happen. Our society is in a moral ethical common sense decay and that applies to both sides of the fence in these situations and better heads need to prevail. I also believe police officers can become calloused, insensitive and will stereotype/racial when dealing with people over and over and over again and then unfortunately things like this can happen. And that is wrong.

I don't know what the solution or answer is, and I am not sure any of us do. Some profess to though.

We should all do as we pledge: citizens should listen to police when told to freeze, and officers must only shoot when they see a weapon.
