Trump encourages Russia to hack Clinton's emails
Cox Media Group National Content Desk
DORAL, Fla. --
Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump called on Russia to find and release emails sent by rival Hillary Clinton in an unprecedented move, which critics said encouraged a foreign nation to spy on correspondence of a secretary of state.
>> Read more trending stories
"Russia, if you're listening, I hope you're able to find the 30,000 emails that are missing," Trump said as he addressed reporters in Florida. "I think you will probably be mightily rewarded by our press."
Russia has been accused of trying to manipulate the U.S. presidential election. Last week, WikiLeaks released about 20,000 emails from Democratic National Committee leaders following a hack. Officials believe a pair of Russian spies were behind the attack, The New York Times reported, although it's unclear whether the hack was specifically aimed at influencing the election.

"They probably have them (Clinton's missing emails). I'd like to have them released. It gives me no pause, if they have them, they have them," Trump said in response to a question over whether his statement was appropriate. "If Russia or China or any other country has those emails, I mean, to be honest with you, I'd love to see them."
The Clinton campaign was quick to respond to the call.
"This has to be the first time that a major presidential candidate has actively encouraged a foreign power to conduct espionage against his political opponent," Clinton's foreign policy advisor, Jake Sullivan, said in a statement. "That's not hyperbole. Those are just the facts. This has gone from being a matter of curiosity and a matter of politics to being a national security issue."
The response on social media was swift, with some commenters accusing Trump of treason.

https://twitter.com/TheMasonReport/status/758335291182555136
At least one Republican appeared to brush Trump's comments off as a joke.
"The media seems more upset by Trump's joke about Russian hacking than by the fact that Hillary's personal server was vulnerable to Russia," Newt Gingrich wrote.
https://twitter.com/newtgingrich/status/758341228421414912
Trump's running mate, Indiana Gov. Mike Pence, said in a statement Wednesday that the focus should not be on whether Russia hacked the DNC but should instead be on "the basic fact that they've (Democrats) been exposed as a party who not only rigs the government, but rigs elections while literally accepting cash for federal appointments."
"The FBI will get to the bottom of who is behind the hacking," he said. "If it is Russia and they are interfering in our elections, I can assure you both parties and the United States government will ensure there are serious consequences."
A spokesman for House Speaker Paul Ryan says Russian President Vladimir Putin should stay out of the U.S. presidential election.
In a statement from Rep. Paul Ryan spokesman Brendan Buck, the speaker of the house called Rissa "a global menace led by a devious thug."
"Putin should stay out of this election," Buck said.

A tale of two top of the ticket candidates.

Pence: “If it is Russia and they are interfering in our elections, I can assure you both parties and the United States government will ensure there are serious consequences.”

Trump: “I’m not going to tell Putin what to do. Why should I tell Putin what to do?”

i will stick my neck out and predict Pence will bail by the end of september.

This guy needs to try a serious shot at stand up. How can you hack into a server that doesn't
exist anymore?
Not only that, we're talking about a private server, not protected by the US
Government in the first place. Plus, even if Russia got hold of some recipes, yoga routines, wedding
plans, ect that was supposedly deleted, is this a grave national security matter?

LOL. Classic.

So you are ok with a foreign power hacking into servers to suit your candidate. And you don't think that this is a crime in any way. You are ok with Russia committing a felony and Trump being an accessory to it.

But Hillary is a criminal

Hypocrite. Of course none of us are surprised you feel that way.

There was nothing classified or top secret on HIllary's server, remember? Memories are pretty short.
Now that Trump gets dragged into it they're singing a different tune. Hillary's Bundt Cake recipe
is now in Russian hands!!

God help us.

Hey genius, hacking a server is a felony. Asking Russia to do it makes Trump an accessory. And now that Hillary is the Democratic nominee, there will be emails pertaining to the election that are not Trumps business. This is similar to the Watergate deal where the GOP eavesdropped on the Dems office. That was a felony, remember? But hey, this is your boy. He could shoot someone in Times Square and not lose a vote. At least not your vote.

Hacking a server that doesn't exist anymore is a DOUBLE SECRET felony. Trump is pretty
persuasive, but I doubt Jesus Christ himself could hack a non-existent email server.

Takeaway: Desperation.

He didn't ask them to hack her non-existent server, he asked them to find the 30,000 emails.... but believe what you want to believe so you can be snarky.....

Only a fool would assume he knows the answer to your question. A quick google search will answer it for you. And only a bigger fool would use his own false assumption to then criticize. When did you get your political science and law degrees? You sure are an expert.

I'm light years away from being a Donald Trump fan or voter - but I heard humor in his remark. For the Democrats to start blaming Russia for their woes ... this is just plain silly!

I still believe Trump is and has been working to get Hillary elected since the get-go. I have become that cynical over this entire election and process.

Here's what strikes me the strangest: If this were a movie script or a novel ... there is no way - no literary device or license that could produce or create a WORSE candidate for Hillary to run against. Consider all of the things that he has said and done. There is just no way to create a bigger buffoon or "evil nemesis" for Hillary to run against. This is the equivalent of the most beautiful woman in the world running against ugly Betty in a beauty contest and having the judges actually sit and scratch their chins over who is the prettiest.

With this in mind, I ask one question: Why isn't she beating this clown by double digit percentage in the polls?

Only about 57% of Americans voted in the last election. Ted Cruz was the first to argue that there were a lot more potentially right wing voters out there who could be mobilized. Cruz thought if he could find them through religious networks he could stay on a conservative message and win the presidency. His problem was Trump who with his personality and his mastery of media and twitter had a better way of reaching this disenfranchised group. Trump has become this group's voice and he has found ways to expand it to include more than angry white men. All of this has made him more competitive that Romney was. He has also benefited from Hilary having high negative numbers.

If this was flipped around and Hillary asked the Russians to hack Trump, joking or not, the right wing internet would be flooded with memes of the hammer and sickle behind her, and Reagan's Legacy Children would spend every second of every day proclaiming that Hillary is a subservient slave to the Evil Empire. Every single stereotypical effort or statement made in the last sixty years about leftists being nothing more than Marxist socialists or communists would dominate our every waking moment. Trump would transition from Crooked Hillary to Comrade Hillary, and he'd say it every other sentence.

But, it's not flipped around, and there isn't a thing that Trump could do to keep people from voting for him. On it goes.

Headline lies continue from pops:

"Trump encourages Russia to hack Clinton's emails"

Wrong.
Donald Trump called for Russia to release the 30,000 Hillary Clinton emails she claims were deleted and all about yoga and her daughter's wedding.

Trump is calling for Russia to release what the liberals claim Russia can easily do.
Trump never said Russia should hack anything.

According to the liberals the DNC emails which exposed their corruption and anti-Semitism were hacked by the Russians. There is no proof but liberals don't need facts when lies will do for them.

The Russians had all those emails years ago when Hill was still Secretay of State. No need to hack anything. Trumps command of the English language isn't that great. He should have said to release the emails that have nothing to do with national security according to the Clinton campaign. Whats' the big deal then? Hillary Clinton is a dishonest narcissist. Lied and lied some more. She wouldn't use the secure State Department server because she didn't want her files subjected to FOIA and congressional requests. It's that simple. As for the DNC email flap, she would have won over a large portion of Bernie's supporters but had to work with the party elites and the media to rig the primaries. They see who she really is. Someone part of the system they despise. This maybe the reason she loses.

Well, maybe speaking proper English should be a prerequisite for Trump if he wants to save America. What language does he have a good command of? Poodle talk?

The estimate is that about 90% of Bernie voters are going to vote for Clinton and the rest will split between Johnson and Stein.

Trump never debated anyone one on one did he? His pattern in the primaries was to lay back when the mob was on stage and then claim he won the debate after it was over. I've wondered why no one challenged this claim. Unless they include Stein and Johnson, Trump will have to debate Clinton and he will have to answer questions using his butchered English. Clinton is a champion debater and she is going to kick Trump's ass right off the planet.

More irony.

ABC's Tom Llamas asked Trump to expand upon his recent statement that Jeb Bush should speak English, not Spanish.

Trump responded, "Well, I think that when you get right down to it, we're a nation that speaks English. I think that, while we're in this nation, we should be speaking English."

I agree with your post re: the debate. Unfortunately Donnie could get up there, make a fool of himself (which he probably will), and it wouldn't matter. 1) Many people don't watch these debates, 2) Most of the people who watch won't be swayed by a great or terrible performance.

I honestly believe the majority of people know who they will vote for, probably won't change their mind between now and November, and the true # number of undecided voters is probably minuscule.

Pops, I don't think he was asking them to hack into her emails, but if they had already been there and had looked, he hoped they would make it public. That is what I think he meant. And he said it out in the open, not like he was asking it on the sneak.

If there was nothing to hide, there would be no reason to delete anything. She should have turned everything over when the issue came up, not spent time debating if she had to (stalling) while stuff was deleted. The same spies who were able to hack into those Apple I Phones could probably recover her deleted emails, since delete does not mean it is really gone forever, it can be retrieved, unless of course you use your hard drive for target practice and then cut it up into little pieces.
