He did it for dough, apparently last time too.

Roger is Roger Waters.

From Guitar World:

Rogerís obviously passionate about a lot of political issues. As a gigging musician, have you ever turned down a gig because it doesnít line up with your personal views?

I have an 11-year-old daughter and sheís going to be going to school for a long time. And itís expensive, so I have to work. Last year I did the Republican National Convention. When they first asked me to do it, I turned it down. And they offered another really good offer, which I turned it down. They came back with one more and I said no. It wasnít so much political but rather that I had just been away for two years and I wanted to go home. Iíd just made a bunch of money so I didnít feel the pressure. And then they came back with an insane final offer. And I thought, Well not only will this pay for several years of Josieís school but I can hire six or seven of my friends, and give them a really good pay day too. So we went and played the Republican convention. We may not be Republicans, obviously, but it was really interesting. I got heavy flack from some people for doing it. If you remember, at that time, last August, a year ago, it wasnít so sure. It was kinda looking like Romney was making a good run for it. So I got some heavy flack for it. But Iím a professional musician and this is what Iíve always done. Iíve been a professional musician since I was 11 years old. Itís what I do: work.

I never quite understood the notion that artists of any medium, are, or even more restrictive, "should be" liberal. Only liberals are artistic? Is art only valid when accompanied by a left leaning mindset? An artist is a traitor for wrong politics? Devils advocate here. I don't really care, art and politics are not good bedfellows is my point, not right or left.

Recently the TV news marveled at a black Republican, like it was moon landing event worthy.

The DirecTV convention channel, 347, carried them live for a while yesterday and they sounded really good. Hey, it ain't like he gave a speech or anything. Give them a break. It's got to be tough playing in front of an audience who isn't there for the music or even has any idea about the music.

Yeah ... I mean Judas sold out Jesus for some silver. It's the same thing. Just business.

Luckily no reenactment of the Clintons and The Cigar Store Indian trying to keep time to Fleetwood Mac, oh the horror.

Just rewatched the Tom "T-Bone" Wolk Tribute show on Live From Daryl's House again. I've always liked G.E. I suppose if I was a musician even of his caliber, I'd probably take the gig providing if the cash was right especially in this day and time. Just for the record although I'm a Democrat, I've never been fond of popular musicians espousing their political views - whether it be on the side of Ted Nugent and Charlie Daniels or Jackson Browne and Bruce Springsteen.

I've tried to erase from my mind that the ABB supported & campaigned (musically) for Obama & Carter.

They had good reason to hate the republican party dating back to 1976.

The band was kick ass. Maybe the best cover band ever.played eclectic songs that not many played attention to.

Blew away can't sing anymore Paul Simon and simpleton Katy Perry.

I've always wondered why Paul never found the time to record a duet with Bob Weir.
