I can't be the only one that thinks that either this version or a re-jigged version of the ABB plays next year at Wanee or somewhere in the Northeast?

Like so many others in the rock and roll world they will not be able to sit still on their deck overlooking le promenade and not think of the money they could be making doing something they love or loved.

I'd put money on it that this is not the last live Whipping Post to be played by the "ABB" (unless time catches up with Gregg then all bets are off).

Thoughts?

Bets?

I edited title as I could only fit Wanee in title.

There is WAY MORE to life than money. I know first hand. At 56 years of age, I've had 0, and I've had $100,000.00, and it really didn't change things like I had always thought it would.
I'm now glad to be retired, and am amused how important both my doctor, and Walgreen's are in my daily life now. Sitting on the deck watching the sunset is really pretty great, and Gregory has earned it !!!

They're not gonna play Wanee next year.

That said, I DO think Gregg and the percussion section will get back together under the Allman Brothers Band name within the next few years without a Warren, Derek or Oteil.

Gregg made some comments in a recent interview about how much he had enjoyed playing the Beacon with the ABB and he hoped he could play there in the future with his solo band, "if they will have us." It sure sounded like Gregg Allman thinks tonight's show is the last time the ABB will ever play the Beacon.

That struck me as maybe the strongest hint I've seen yet that it is really over. In a world where Gregg apparently doesn't even consider the Allman Brothers playing the Beacon again a possibility, expecting them to play anywhere else like Wanee is optimistic at best.

As an Atlantan, I'm sad that the band's focus has shifted so much to New York, but if the ABB ever DOES play again, you'd think it would have to be at the Beacon.

What better place to debut tunes off of the new CD to be released prior to Wanee. The CD is rumored to be called "Mushrooms And Mermaids"

I would think a one off special appearance at a festival is more than likely within a year or two. If Gregg is still playing in two years and is healthy there will be a show with some version of the band.

Tons of bands have announced their final shows, only to have toured again. Remember folks, this is showbiz. And surprises sure sell tickets!

I hope they don't. I would rather remember this unit as the equivilant of the original band.

I'd bet my left nut, they'll get offers in the next few weeks, from Dolan, or whoever to play with Dickey next year........If they've not had 'em already.

I bet they'll be some jams at festivals here and there but those are usually sloppy. One thing I got from Alan Paul's and Galadrielle Allmans book was just how much work they put into getting their sound. They've made it sound and look easy for so many years but it's not. I think lack of touring and practicing together showed the past few years until the last 6 shows.

Whatever comes next won't be anywhere near what went down this past week.

Hope to be proved wrong but it's very doubtful...

Disagree. Imho, The band ended its run because Derek and Warren were bored. Their solo projects bring them the gift of creativity....

I wasn't talking about Derek and Warren. Now they are out of the picture, I'll guarantee promoters are thinking, "What's the best way of still making money from The A.B.B?

I now think the band is done as a living entity.

They sound excellent when Gregg is in good health (which has been up/down) and have time to be well rehearsed, and inconsistent when not. They can't wing it any more.

I wouldn't rule out Gregg, Jaimoe & Butch playing with the likes of Jack Pearson & Chuck Leavell (or even Warren) on a one-off in the future at a festival or special event. I just hope it's well rehearsed!

Who knows. To me they missed huge opportunities to make more than they could have from this last run. Simulcasts not done. The souvenirs - to me - just missed the mark in that ALL the shirts were the same of the March run with the one exception of changing the dates. The poster did change but was on a poorer quality paper. I did buy both.

And as said by others I have no desire at all to see them with two new guitarists and possibly a new bass player

I just don't think missed opportunities & money is or was an issue. They know they could have made bundles more if they did more dates, marketed more, etc. I have no idea what these guys are worth nor do I care. I'd be willing to think that they are comfortable to more than comfortable - some of the band more than others.

It's more than money that drives decisions for these guys - personalities, personal lives, other projects, life issues, etc.

I was at the show last night and I can tell you by the emotions and the vibe coming from the band that this was the end. This band will not play together again. This was the way to end it.

I have to agree with Mr. Alan Paul in feeling that the monumental event that just occurred was a sincere farewell. No other underlying sentiment could have generated such an effort. So with such an effort, with such emotion behind it, and the way the event was structured, my feeling is that no reunion show or shows is on the near horizon, if ever. I think they laid it all out there and now will just let it be. I think any near-term reunion would detract from that which has just occurred. When I say near-term I am talking multiple years, as in 2-3 years minimum.

On band configuration, I would be shocked if the owners aka Original 3 decided to take the stage as anything other than the latest iteration of the band and bill themselves as the ABB.

To give myself a smidgen of hope I have thought about the possibility of a 50th anniversary show or shows in 2019, perhaps a short run back at the Beacon for this. I have also more ambitiously thought about the possibility of a 70th birthday show for Gregg in 2017. These thoughts involve the Beacon or perhaps Atlanta. I have also thought about possible Wanee or Peach reunion sets. In any event I just feel that we are years away from even getting any shot at a show. Most of these guys are going to stay very busy, plus kids/family stuff going on, and the calendar pages tend to flip awfully fast. 2,3,4 years go by in the blink of an eye.

If (big if) they take the stage again for an actual billed ABB show I think it will be very well-rehearsed. No winging it at a festival or anywhere else.

Luther Dickinson might bring a sense of professionalism and musicianly wisdom to the group like he did with the Black Crowes (like Warren did) and John Hiatt might be willing to lease his great guitarist/producer Doug Lancio

Just to agree with most everyone, I do not think these 7 musicians will ever play together again.

And to disagree with a few, I don't think the original members play even a 1-off show with other guitar, base and percussion players.

I can see opportunity for some of the original members to sit in with some family bands possibly here and there. That seems very possible and would be welcomed or even encouraged by TTB or Mule.

But Allman Brothers Band I feel came to a close last night. Circumstances are different this time than other times they got back together. Age, health, desire and passion. You can't go on forever and there is something to be said for going out on top and on your terms. I don't think any other living combination of the lineup can reach the highs this lineup did when you consider what all the pieces brought to the table with some of the would-be replacements...it just isn't happening.

I prefer to keep the impression of Michael Jordan sinking the winning shot in the championship to Michael Jordan with the Washington Wizards as my last...

This band is better than any other, ever, including the original, and they proved it last night. Hard to script it any better!
