Awesome -- when I saw it I thought ....Jim Ray Hart! their great QB then -- or, Jim Bakken, their great kicker -- Dave Casper too, a great player in his day

Joe P & Rico P had that great dustup at Yankee Stadium in 67 -- Thad Tillotson & many others were also in on it but that was the main one -- Joe Pepitone, 1 of the great names & a good player -- he, Tom Tresh, bespectacled reliever Pete Mikkelson & other good-not-great NYYs

Your dad is the Champ of the thread -- looks like he's punting the ball a mile there, & it pales compared to NCAA baseball championship -- thanks for sharing!

Dickie Thon appeared to be a budding 5-tool star shortstop for the Houston Astros until his career was derailed by a Mike Torrez beanball in 1984. Thon was plagued by headaches and blurred vision for much of the remainder of his career and was never the same after this at-bat.

Arriving at the scene of the tragedy are Jose Cruz and Manager Bob Lillis.

Awesome -- Lance Rentzel -- he wore #19 while #17, Don Meredith, threw him passes -- & also to another famous Cowboy, Bullet Bob Hayes ("the fastest human in the world") -- the name of another standout Cowboys WR, Lance Alworth, came along too when I saw that pic (I never google bro, it's my brain exercise) --
as Dandy Don was barking the signals at QB, the Cowboys ofnsv line would stand up, then go back into their 3 point stance -- the only team that did that --

& dandy Juan in that high-kicking photo -- we had many aging Latin American stars then, like Juan, Orlando Cepeda (he was our 1st DH), SS Luis Aparicio...
Bill Lee made a great comment about Juan in his book -- when Juan was with us he was near the end of his career & needed the medical help of the day (cortisone, bennies etc etc) to make his start
The problem, the Spaceman said, was that "unfortunately he felt good most of the time" -- Fenway wasn't his friend, but when he wasn't feeling well & needed a little blast, er boost of something good -- that's when he'd go out & pitch like Juan the Giant

also 2 of the great slide guitarists, Lowell G & Bonnie R --
& Al Kaline -- who's the all-time Tiger, him or Ty Cobb -- heck even players like Alan Trammell & Lou Whittaker played many many years in Detroit but between the obvious choice of Kaline vs. Cobb...
Kaline played his whole career there, 21 years (That I Looked Up -- the 21 years)
-- Cobb played 22 years in Detroit, then 2 more seasons (1927-28) under Connie Mack w/Phila A's --
I always gave Kaline the edge just because he was in the modern era & knew him better -- also Cobb, as great as he was, was one of the biggest a$$holes that ever lived...
these pics rock alloak41, thanks!

While Rentzel may be a hero for football and boning Joey Hetherton; he exposed himself to a ten year old girl

The "Dominican Dandy" was perhaps the greatest pitcher never to win a Cy Young; mostly cause of Koufax (Seaver and Gibson too) Both him and Mays were denied that post season luster cause Richardson snares MCoveys liner in 1962 and Marichal inexplicably decides Roseboros head is a baseball in 1965. And it was 1965 that cemented the legend of Koufax.
