Joe doesn't look right in that Rams uniform. Johnny U was lucky he didn't get himself killed trying to play when he should have hung em up. |

No way -- it's a mistake -- it's gotta be a HOAX! Say It Ain't So!! (hehe)
It was cool he won the Cup out there -- as Terry O'Reilly said at Raymond's number retirement in Boston, "I'm sure I wasn't the only one who shed a tear when Raymond held the Cup over his head."

ROBIN ROBERTS
1948-66
286-245
4,688.2 IP
HOF 1976
Even as an MSU Spartan, he's got that 'ani-mal' look -- could pass for a 1910-era photo

Deserves bumping -- a great photo -- is really the still-photo version of the cool "When It Was A Game" video documentaries from some years back
like most greats Eddie rode the pine at the end of his career -- but what a ride it was -- 1967-68 Det. Tigers, winning the World Series in the last year of his career w/the last of the 30-game winners, Dennis McLain
when the Tygiz lost last game of '67 season, it gave the Sawx the pennant -- if they'd won it wouldve forced a 1 game playoff -- with all his greatness, Eddie wouldve been a big ace in the hole for Tygz in a 1 game playoff
but it was good for Eddie to end his career like that -- with two such great teams -- made the HOF 1978

As an M.S.U. alum, I am ashamed that I didn't know Roberts went there. I also didn't realize he lost so many games but he did pitch on some poor teams. ____________________ Gimme a fifth of anything and a glazed doughnut to go. |
