After picketing the entrance to Fenway, fans show their disgust "on this day" in 1969 after Ken "The Hawk" Harrelson was traded/exiled to Cleveland. Hawk was almost as popular as Yaz was after Ken's big year in 1968. Hawk was as pissed as the fans were about it & briefly retired. He eventually agreed to go to Cleveland but not without hard feelings, also Sox fans. It was pretty much the end of his career

Ken tried the PGA Tour for a while after breaking his leg playing for Cleveland in 1971.

This did nothing for anybody -- the Hawk even had a song written about him (like Yaz did in '67) -- Ken was on the cover of SI at the height of his Red Sox popularity
then this?
it was a crummy thing to ship him outta town -- was costly to the Hawk, also both teams

Tommy Nobis, an overlooked LB -- good one

Was really hoping the Hawk'd make a go of golf-- he'd won many of the off season tournaments that were held -- the foray into the pros didn't go the way he'd hoped tho

Yep Tommy Nobis was a big time hitter for the Falcons

It was the same thing here -- Tony had the best season of his career in 1970 -- then was traded --
trading your most popular players, even if the trade looks good on paper, will never have a good outcome -- neither of these moves worked out good for the 3 teams -- Tony retired midway thru 1971

"with a fully healthy career playing in Fenway Park, Tony would have hit 500 HRs in his sleep" -- Carl Yastrzemski

On what grounds? I think he's pretty good.

Wow, where to start?

His catch phrases are terrible.

Hands down the biggest "homer" in the history of announcers.

The master of hyperbole. Did you know every White Sox player is/was the best player at his position?

Even White Sox fan I know here mute the volume when watching the Sox on TV.

Other than that, he's great!

Joe Namath, as NY as Broadway itself -- Jet-set fodder
& the great Johnny Unitas...of the SD Chahgiz???? say it ain't so

...and yet, the serious/business side of pro sports must always go on

...the quintessential/final example of this....
