In I believe 1968 when Bobby was a young coach at Army he ran a basketball camp for a week after regular camp closed at the Camp I attended. One of my friends went. While Knight was lecturing a camper spoke. Knight didn't stop talking but hurled a basketball at the kids head knocking him out. Everyone else was too scared to help him.

Anyone else miss the days when kids could be abused when they were acting inappropriately?

Great -- Artis ended his career w/the Celts, as did others like Dominique Wilkins, Pistol Pete Maravich, Shaquille O'Neal, Jermaine O'Neal ,Dave Bing, Bailey Howell, Wide Clyde Lovellette & others

Like the Yankees in the 1950's (see Johnny Mize) the Celtics (see Maravich/Walton) seemed to have an uncanny knack for picking up discarded talent that was willing to sublimate for a chance at a ring

r u kiddin' Lee -- to be able to tell your grandchildren you ended your career wearing the fabled Celtics green?? hehe

A treasure -- "Al" Schoendienst -- awesome
I see some of the icons for posting photos, not the img on right -- am slow on this stuff -- saw the other steps right-clicking etc. -- I'll get there

good one of Walt Garrison too -- had forgotten about Walt -- he used to do tobacco-chew commercials IIRC -- him, the Browns' Leroy Kelly, runners like Chuck Mercein & Donny Anderson for GB, Bill Brown for the Vikes, Oakland's Hewritt Dixon -- greats 1 & all getting their due, bomb...

A great back for 5 years; and perhaps the prototype for the small scat back who doesn't carry 20 times per game but catches/runs/kick returns

I do remember that he woore pantyhose; not that there's anything wrong with it.

I still had the baseball he hit for the Cardinals that I caught a Shea in 1969. His .363 season in 1971 was truly amazing cause you timed him in the 100 yd dash using a sundial. Not quite like when Ted Williams hit .388 at the age of 39 but not far off. Rickey Henderson would have hit .420 if he ran out Joe's hits
