Oh wow this was loads of fun! The place erupted when the hometown heroes Derek and Susan came out. Warren was saying "we have half of TTB up here with us"..lots of fun on the sky is crying..great solo by susan and derek crushed it after her. Dreams was phenomenal...at least 18 minutes long. Great solos by Derek,Warren, and Kofi on this one.
My question to the mule fans: Has the mule ever done Dreams with Derek before? This felt like it had a special meaning to it.

Side note, Warren is the man...The encore tribute to John Lennon on his birthday was amazing. I would have never expected to hear I'm so tired performed by anyone in concert ever. One of my favorite beatles tunes. And working class hero rocked.. Warren turned it into a full on assault. All in all Great show, great night. Can't wait for this muletrack!

Cool review.

http://members.jacksonville.com/entertainment/music/2014-10-10/story/govt-m ule-gets-little-help-its-friends

Then Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks walked on and the place nearly exploded. Tedeschi and Gov't Mule leader Warren Haynes swapped verses and guitar licks on "The Sky is Crying," then Tedeschi left the stage and Haynes and Trucks launched into a 15-minute version of the Allman Brothers Band's "Dreams." Coming back-to-back as they did, the two songs were absolutely superb, with Tedeschi holding her own between two of the finest guitar players on the planet (one of whom, Trucks, is her husband), and "Dreams" losing none of its power, even without the thunder of the Allman Brothers behind it.

It was not much of a surprise that Tedeschi and Trucks showed up Thursday night. They do, after all, live in Jacksonville, and Trucks and Haynes have played together in the Allman Brothers Band for more than a decade. Add in that Trucks and Haynes are leaving the Allmans following a six-show run in New York later this month (plus the fact that early-arriving fans spotted Tedeschi walking across the stage before the show), and their appearance wasn't exactly a shock.

Still, they pushed the energy level in the theater so high that Gov't Mule, which still had more than an hour left to play, kind of had no place to go but down. Haynes wisely called a time-out after "Dreams," taking a 20-minute break to let everyone catch their breath.

Thanks - from what I saw (on FB From people who were at the show) there were tapers. But I'll pay if necessary. The other one I'd pay for is the Spokane show when they did the first Don't Step On The Grass Sam without Brian holding the signs

Let me add some more, we were standing out front on the sidewalk before the show, right in front of the Florida Theater...when right through the crowd on the sidewalk walks Derek Trucks carrying a guitar case, followed by Susan, followed by Kofi carrying a flute case.

They walked right down to the stage entrance door, so it was obvious there was to be a sit in

Then as it says above, there was an intermission after Dreams, so again, back out to the sidewalk, because that's what you do at this venue.

When again, out of the stage door, right down the sidewalk, through the throngs of fans walked Derek, Susan and Kofi.

Pretty cool.

They did. It wasn't like they were just lingering, standing still, they were moving along, but yes.

For the most part fans were pretty cool about it, recognizing them, saying Hi but not a mob scene.

Edit: I can never seem to come up with anything witty or smart to say in these situations, all I could think of was the time I saw Derek a few miles from there at Club 5, when he opened up for Johnny Winter. This was during the years when it seemed his Gibson SG was bigger than him. I kept those thoughts to myself

Spinning the show from Muletracks now. It was nice to see "Dreams" as the Brothers skipped it both nights at Wanee this year (I was crestfallen as I knew those were my last shows). Still one of my favorite tunes. A shame the sound was so poor at the FL Theater show, at least where my seats were. Enjoying the heck out of Kofi's playing on it.

Look forward to two nights of TTB in January.

Jealousy to those who are making the Beacon run.

Peace.
