I'm surprised I haven't seen a thread started about this yet.

Not sure how I feel about the playoffs yet.

As for teams I follow. I think Michigan will win 7 or 8 games. It all depends on which Gardner shows up. As for Michigan State I expect them to be in the hunt for the Big Ten title. It all comes down to if the defense can maintain its level of excellency.

And I'm saying that the SEC, ACC, Big Ten, and Pac Ten are all have to many teams in them. The Big 12 has it right with 10 teams and a round robin schedule and no championship game.

UCLA'S morning practice yesterday. Fall camp is being held at Cal State San Bernardino. I took my son and a friend of his who's a big Auburn fan. It was a good time enjoying all things college football!

My feelings exactly.

I haven't bought a preseason mag or looked at any single football related topic online yet. First time in maybe 20 years I haven't done some reading at this point in August on the teams and matchups. I can't believe I haven't looked at win totals, but when I have no basis for predictions it is meaningless.

Major college football is more of a turn off to me now days. Mountain West, MAC, Sun Belt and the mid majors in general is what still excites me. Major conference teams and leagues I don't care about much anymore. I might still care in the sense that if I ever get on the stick to make assumptions and predictions and bet on the major teams and league games then I will certainly care in a myopic sense, but big picture my passion for the sport is leaving.

But enough about that already. Ain't nobody got time for that kind of post here. How about some week 1 lines?

Just finished 2 weeks vacation in oregon. Have to say the amount of support for the Ducks is impressive. No where near the Bama level but still good to see strong support throughout state.

Are we going with a College Pick'em pool this year?

I am in for pickem and would think we can get a few more involved.

Also I know a cranky engineer that puts on a good pool in Seattle and another guy that runs a good pool out of Conneticut if anyone is intersted in putting some money down send me a pm and I will forward contact info.

GO DUCKS!!!!!

Questions questions.....I know its only pre-season but.....

Florida at one makes sense, they won it all last year and have the crab man returning to lead the O. Their schedule looks weak again so hopefully that wil be considered come December if the run the table.

Bama at 2??? Does this team not need a QB with some real game experience uner his belt before we roll out the tide onto the #2 spot? Their schedule looks like a stroll through a rough part of town so voters will have somethiing to stand on if they lose one game this year to another one loss team.

Oregon deserves their top 5 ranking, they have some great returning seniors, great at QB, and coach has had another year to instill his vision on his players. Not sure about top 3 but they have a solid schedule to play this year and would deserve a 1,2 or 3 ranking if they run the table.

I know nothing about Oklahoma but they must be better then everyone else in the Big 12. Schedule looks a little on the weak side with only 2 games against top 20 teams.

Hate Ohio State, their schedule is weak with only one top 25 opponent, number 8 Mich State on the road. I would flip Michigan State with Ohio in rankings.

Auburn ready to pounce on bama's inexperience will be fun to watch. Auburn is slated to play 7 top 25 teams!! If they lose one game they deserve a spot in top 4.

GO DUCKS!!!!

Regarding the Big 10 (or whatever they call themselves now), Michigan State is better in my mind than Ohio State.

And I hope Alabama goes 0-12.

Disappointed with SEC Network. I love how Big Ten Network handles their shows and team previews. I learn something, real things about team depth weaknesses and strengths and surprises that might be in store. SEC Network is just ESPN fluff of player highlights that aren't on the team any more and meaningless story segments. Plus you get the air-headed ESPN employees that bring little to the table.

I wonder if the PAC 12 Network is any better? I wonder if I will ever know? Year 3 of Directv not including it in their channel packages. I do love Big Ten Network. For a conference specific network I really do not think it can get any better than what they do and how they do it.

I must say that I know absolutely nothing about any team. It is a very foreign and uncomfortable place I am in 10 days before the season starts. Still here are the lines that made me say 'wow':

BYU -16' at UConn
*Seems almost too high even though UConn blows.

UCF home -1' vs Penn St
* I know UCF beat them last year, but Bortles for one is gone and seeing Franklin losing his PSU debut vs a team that upset the Nits last year seems hard to envision. I figured PSU a small road fav here.

UCLA -21' at Virginia
*Damn Bruins a 3 TD road fav at ACC for a 9am PST kick.

Auburn home -21' vs Ark
*somebody explain this number to me

Texas -23' home vs N Texas
* Is this line high enough? I love McCarney and NT is back on mid-major radar under his watch, but I'd be interested in saying Horns win by 24-28 atleast.

Tennessee -6' at home vs Utah St
*Aggies have a nice program and quality players...are the Vols in danger of losing to MWC team at home again?
