I am sure you have your thoughts about who should fill in, so who you got? Evidently this is not the end of the ABB and they are already on the hunt for replacements.

I don't know how seriously to take that thread, but unless Jimmy and Jack are up for joining next year I'm done. ____________________

I would think Jimmy Herring will be touring with Warren and The Dead. At least I hope so. ____________________ "If everyone demanded peace instead of another television set, then there'd be peace."

Hmmmm I would hope Jack would be involved...warren handled a pretty fair amount of vocals so it would have to be somebody who signs I would think.. ____________________

No one. Let the brothers songs live through Gregg and his band.
I'll bet the band would still be having fun and would have made it a priority if they had just worked on some new material. Tell me Warren and Derek are not bored to death playing these songs night after night. Both of them are extremely creative and talented and probably have out grown this project.... A lifelong dream, fulfilled. Didn't Derek leave or disband the dtb for this very reason? ____________________ "Political correctness is fascism pretending to be manners."

It would be great to see Dickey Betts & Duane Betts take over on guitars.

Big V I have heard you say the ABB is an oldies act due to lack of new material. Well, if folks think they are an oldies act now, just wait until they go out with post Warren Derek guitarists.
They should hang it up or get some super talents to join and let them create a new band under a new name.
They were lucky to have Warren with his affinity for the ABB sound and existing track record with the band to come in and save them from Dickey's departure but there's no surviving this. |

I suspect this is the end unless the guitarists are Jack, Jimmy or Dickey.
Every year since 1997 (when Warren & Woody departed), I have treated each year of the ABB as a bonus. Getting a very strong Hittin The Note album was a bonus as well. I do wish they had put out one more album. Sorry that a lineup with the amazing talent of these 7 individuals would not have wanted to do some creative work in the studio together...but I'll take quality over quantity any day.
Overall, Gregg, Butch, Jaimoe, Marc, Oteil, Warren & Derek did the Allman Brothers Band fans very proud. Can't wait to see them multiple times in 2014. ____________________ Tim L. |

AMEN!!!! Warren's singing and the "young blood" have allowed the ABB to avoid the 70 minutes oldies circuit. Kept Gregg strong. I think the road stops here |

How do Warren and derek keep them from being an oldies act? They have been for a long time and to think otherwise is delusional. I have said it here since the old site. They have one studio album in 20 years. Warren and Derek are great but that doesn't change what they are. They are a band that plays songs that are 45 years old. The audience is mostly comprised of old fat guys. Most important fact is the original members are all pushing 70. How you can believe that they are not an oldies act is comical. Do they need to live in a retirement home for you to concede to the truth?
It doesn't make them bad and in fact that experience is part of what makes them great. ____________________ Chicago Black Hawks - next season.

An oldies act maybe, but don't you think what this line up was capable of live kicked the snot out of anything that The Who, The Stones, Skynyrd, Sabbath, Styxx, Van Halen, Ratdog, Aerosmith, basically any of your local classic rock station's playlist that is still touring has done in this Millenium?
Notice I left Santana off that list because he still has a kick ass band. ____________________

Is that something that's in the works or a rumor going around? Or is it just wishful thinking on your behalf?
Either way I'm with ya I'd love to see that, or at least a Phil and Friends Q full tour ____________________

As I said, oldies does not mean bad. I personanlly agree about them over those bands but I also took them over those bands 40 years ago so nothing new there. If you went on those bands websites, I guarentee there would be many that disagree. ____________________ Chicago Black Hawks - next season.

Nick Johnson would be good. He's in Randall Bramblett's band and used to play with Col Bruce Hampton and also the Yonrico Scott Band. He's only 26, but he could step right in. ____________________ We'll reach the end, we'll all be singing and we'll all be friends, back where it all begins. |
