Ray Davies believes a Kinks reunion is as close as its ever been to happening, according to an article in Uncut. As NME points out, the Kinks singer met with his brother and onetime musical partner Dave Davies in Highgate, London last summer to discuss the possibility of reuniting in 2014 to celebrate the bands 50th anniversary.
Id like something good to come out of it, not something sad Id like to do something sensible, artistic and dignified, the singer said. Theres every possibility it could happen, if people behave. Or misbehave at the appropriate moment.
We got together in August (2013) and the first few days were beautiful. We went up the pub and had a few Guinnesses, and we were talking about all kinds of **** , the old days and what-ifs, Dave Davies also told the magazine. I said to Ray I thought that itd be a great shame if we dont try and do something.
The Kinks have not toured since 1996, and the Davies brothers have exchanged numerous insults in the press over the past two decades. Founding Kinks bassist Pete Quaife died in 2010, and classic Kinks drummer Mick Avory officially left the band in 1984 (though he has worked with the Davies brothers in the years since his departure

Regardless of rather or not they perform together in 2014, they should both really consider burying all the hate and bitterness permanently and reaffirm some brotherly love while they are both still around.

Humans can be so stupid sometimes ...

Having said that...I would love to see them play together again...

Good that they have reconciled.

However, Ray was on UK television at New Year and I'm afraid he was embarrassingly bad.

I saw him a few years ago with the Crouch End Festival Chorus and, while he was endearingly vulnerable, I knew that - one way or another - it was the last time I would see him perform live.

Thanks for the info. I can only hope...........only saw the Kinks once..........was either 1977 or '78..........WHAT A SHOW!!! Universal Amphitheatre in Hollywood. Bury the hatchet dudes, the clock is ticking. Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker buried it long enough for Cream to do a few shows, at least.
