Anyone know of any good Ad/popup blockers that are free?
I use spybot search and destory and I have a firewall (Zone Alarm), and I still get them.

Newt - spybot is only intended for cookie retrieval and prevention of spyware being installed on your system, as far as I recall; it's not intended to prevent pop-ups.

No doubt there's plenty of free systems out there (I know quite a few people swear by the Google toolbar, for example), but you could do worse than install AdShield - works for me! Not sure of the url, but I'm sure a google search will turn it up...

I use Mozilla Firebird. It's basically a streamlined version of Mozilla. It has some quirks, but overall I vastly prefer it to IE, and it does have the built-in popup blocker which is a real nice feature. The tabbed browsing is also great once you get used to it.

Ok, looks like they changed the name to "Firefox" for some reason. Anyway, you can download it for free here: http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/

You can still keep IE loaded in case you want to switch back.

Thanks for the information.
I'm going to download Firefox as soon as I get some hard drive space and I do a long overdue defrag.

The best is Google......100% effective and also knows which pop up is solicited or not like when clicking on a link. Most others you have to use a manual pop up bypass by using your control or shift keys to allow a new window to open when clicking on a link.

Yahoo does not block all ads....they must have been paid off to allow certain ones through.

This is completely free with no registration or time limit. It does install a search toolbar on your browser but you can right click on it and remove it or simply drag it up to add it to the original tool bar.

Click here to check it out from Google's site and a download option.

This is the best freebie pop up blocker that I have used. No registration or anything.

Spybot is only a cookie tracking blocker and will not block pop ups. It is also completely free and I highly recommend it as well. You could have ads popping up from your hard drive b/c programs can be installed w/o your knowledge while surfing. Spybot detects these as well.
