This concert DVD came out Tuesday (11/26) and features the Melbourne Australia stop from their 2013 kinda reunion tour. (no Bill Ward... ).

I honestly have not watched the DVD yet though I plan to later today after we are done doing the Thanksgiving thing with the family.

But...just in case you have already decided to buy this one, a quick heads up.

The Best Buy version also includes a companion audio CD with 11 tracks from the DVD. The CD clocks in at just under 70 minutes . My understanding is that the Best Buy version is the only one with the additional CD included.

I am giving the CD a quick listen this am and I gotta tell you...it sounds real good.

Tony and Geezer are really on top of their game here and both sound typically awesome. I do think Geezer is a bit lower in the mix than I would like but cranking the bass a bit helps there.

The "scab" drummer sounds good as well (sorry Tommy, just kidding... )

The big surprise here is Ozzy. I have heard a few boots from the 2013 tour and his voice has sounded at times more than a bit ...shall we say ragged ?

Well..we could also say off key. Ugh!

Here he sounds just fine, staying in the lower key that he used to good effect on the reunion album 13. And I am not naive. I know that there may have been some studio doctoring after the fact.

But if so, I don't care. It was a very pleasant surprise that these guys even decided to get back together. It was an even nicer surprise that 13 was as good as it is. Cerrainly not their best, but very solid and ...very enjoyable to these ears.

And so far, this is proving to be a fine early Christmas present.

I promise to weigh in on the DVD tomorrow after work but in the meantime, if anyone else bought this on release day, I would love to hear your review of the DVD, and CD if you have the Best Buy version.

With Ozzy I can guarentee doctoring but as you say - who cares. He has not been in tune for 40 years but that is part of the Ozzy charm.

I have seen a few of the songs from the DVD and it looks and sounds great. I don't want to watch until after I see them as it is likely to be almost exactly the same.

Sabbath related clip. This is pretty damned good.

Geezer, ABB fan favorite Zakk Wylde, Corey Taylor and Charlie Benante

Fairies Wear Boots

Funny side story. I played in a band in Montreal long ago with a French singer. This guy could sing his ass off but at times his accent was hilarious. Everytime we did Fairies, he would sing Fairy Wears Boot. Similarly when we played Legs by ZZ Top, he would sing "She got Leg". We nicknamed him Amputee.

lol! You nailed that one brother...

I can understand you not wanting to see the DVD until after you catch them live. And I hope when that live date arrives that you have a great time!

This long time Sabs fan can't handle lives shows anymore due to tinnitus, but I am very happy that other fans have had and will have the opportunity.

And thanks to the DVD I still can...at lower volume of course. Or as loud as my wife will let me get away with...
