My daughter & I used to play a version of this game all the time. We lived 200 miles apart and she worked in a music store/used & new music warehouse & wound up spending most of her time filling internet orders for amazon. We'd do this via email. I'd send her "Wanna Dance?" Then we swap emails the rest of the day letting each other know what we were listening to on our ipods as we worked. I'm lucky enough that I'm alowwed to have my entire music collection on a portable hard drive attached to my work PC. Fun way to pass the time and know somewhat how my daughter's day went musically as well. her coworkers were always checkin in with what's DAd listening to today. Most times it was put it on shuffle & something came up I din't want to hear right then it's hit next!

It would be interesting to note how much music you have on your iPod. I have a 160GB iPod Classic with about 120GB of music on it. Since I have plenty of storage I am not too discriminating about what I put on it. If I had less capacity my shuffle list would probably more closely match my preferences since there wouldn't be as much "filler" material on it.

Just a side note, I've got a 16G Ipod that is filled up with 1909 of my fav songs, When I filled it up I had to make some tough choices. I also had to remove all songs over 6 minutes.

I have a collection (all off my CD's) and select choices were put on an 8G flash drive that has over 2,300 songs on it. The way it was explained to me was that my flash drive was filled with MP3 versions and the Ipod converts them to MP4 which requires more space. I'm not sure if it was accurate info? but it sounded good.

I also have minimal doubles choosing the best version available (my fav) of that particular song. I've also reworked it and replaced some standard played out versions with live, alternate outtakes & boot versions. I then labeled the boot/alternate vesions with an asterisk. Out of all the songs there may be 5 doubles with a good reason. One that jumps to mind is Georgia On A Fast Train, I have Billy Joe & Eddy Shaver's original hopping rock version and also Dickey Betts hillbillified country version. Same song, but wildly different.

I've got the 120GB iPod Classic. Problem is, my music collection, if I loaded it all digitally on my computer would be, I estimate, about 1.5TB. I've whittled my listening down to "whatever's on my iPod". And, I don't really rotate out the artists all that much. Mostly keep the artists with a large catalogue on there...just these take up most of the 120GB.

Allman Bros Band (& Family Tree bands)
Beatles (individually & collectively & family tree)
Clapton
Dire Straits
ELO
Fleetwood Mac
Grateful Dead
Jimi Hendrix
Little Feat
Leon Russell
Prince
Rolling Stones
Santana
Traffic
Yardbirds (and family tree)
ZZ Top

Ok...gotta go get my iPod to do the 10 song shuffle. Back in a bit.
