I'm sure a second or third (how many cars does he own now?) for Danica would be just fine with him!

I love Danica's attitude. I'm not a race fan at all, but I'll admit that the first time I saw her in a bikini I became a casual fan. It could be a lot more than casual if she wanted it to be (lol). Seriously, I love her attitude. The reality is, she's setting new standards. A woman can be a great race car driver and a hot swimsuit model at the same time. No one has ever done this before.

She averages finishing 24th. Everyone on the circuit knows she is a horrible driver and not up to the competition she is running with. She never won a poll in Indy. Now, on the biggest stage Nascar has to offer, when the sports interest is waning, she wins the pole? All this proves is that if you have a hot body, you can achieve anything. What a great role model for all little girls. The fix is in and this is pure publicity and that is it. Pure bunk. I will bet she doesn't even finish the race, let alone in the top ten. If she wins, I will call BS on that too. Keep drinking America, it must taste good.

I am an no way a fan of Danica, I don't understand all the hype she generates. But to imply that there's a fix is absolutely foolish. The difference in qualifying speeds from first to twentieth was 0.3 seconds on Sunday. Winning the pole also does not guarantee a win in the race, the last time it happened was in 1990. The competition in NASCAR is so cut throat that I believe even Tony Stewart would take her out on the last lap.

Shenanigans in NASCAR are well known. I know this is a 3 yr old article but NASCAR hasn't changed.

by Conny Manero
Created on: January 25, 2010

NASCAR ... each week thousands flock to the racetracks and millions take their seats in front of their televisions to watch 43 drivers and their cars battle it out to get to victory lane.

How they get there sometimes leaves a lot to be desired. As with any sport, some NASCAR drivers and their crew chiefs take chances with NASCAR regulations.

Not that it pays to cheat in NASCAR. If found out, the perpetrator can be fined anywhere from between $20,000 to well over $100,000 and championship points are deducted. Such deductions could cost the drivers the championship.

Faster or better handling cars are at the front of every crew chiefís mind, but NASCAR makes use of officials who check the car before and after each race, making it almost impossible to cheat. Still, some take chances.

They donít call it cheating, they call it creative innovation. The crew chief and their team work in grey areas, outsmart the other teams and on occasion try new car parts.

Crew chief Chad Knaus was fined $25,000 for incorrect installation of mounting bolts.
Crew chief Robbie Loonis was fined $25,000 when it was determined he had made use of an unapproved intake manifold. A year later he was fined yet again for building a car that was too low, making the car more aerodynamic.
Crew chief Jim Long was fined $20,000 for fuel cell modification.

The drivers themselves are not above a little cheating and un-gentlemen-like behaviour either. Bumping, rubbing and spinning each other out on the track are all part of the race.

Some drivers are considered Ďdirtyí drivers. Their lack of technique combined with their hot temper is a recipe for disaster. Hardly a race goes by that they are not involved in a crash, or are the cause of one.

Some drivers are called to what is known as NASCARís oval office, but those who follow the sport will note that while the officials turn a blind eye to some reckless drivers, others have their full attention. For the slightest mistake they get rapped over the knuckles and even send for anger management courses, while their favourites barely get a slap on the wrist.

It isnít right and it isnít fair, which is why on occasion, tempers flare and NASCAR drivers take matters into their own hands and have a go at each other on and off the track.

Until NASCAR officials treat all drivers equally, who can blame them?

Individual drivers and teams pushing the envelope to get an advantage is not exactly a shock (see PEDs in other sports), but it is a bit different from suggesting that Danica is only on the pole because a fix is in, i.e. there is a conspiracy at work. If anything, your post suggests that just the opposite is true, no one is going to give an inch in order to give someone else the advantage.

The thing that is hard to understand here is last year she was never a good in practice or qualifiying (let alone the actual Sprint Cup races). So over the course of a winter seeing her now be the fastest in a practice and the fastest in a qualifying run is very very surprising.

The fact that it is amazingly good pub creating alot of buzz for NASCAR leading up to their biggest event and it is great pub for Chevy and the new SS can lead people to look down the conspiracy route, not that I am there, but it is quite the coincidence.

Single car runs are one thing, the proof will be when the race starts. If her past record is any indications she will not be running at the front very long and if there were good odds on her wrecking I would take them.

The difference for Danica this year is no more Tony Eury Jr. She has better people around her. The fat phuck couldn't set up a car for nothing.

She beat Jeff Gordon for the pole by 0.033 seconds.

A blink of an eye is .3 to .4 seconds.

Given all the variables when it comes to qualifying...weather, wind, track temp, tire temp, driver reactions in and out of turns...hell, even if the sun is behind the clouds or not at any given moment, to think that NASCAR can control ALL of that to ensure anyone wins the pole by 0.033 seconds is completely idiotic.

Just remember, last year she was not a good practicer or qualifier in similar equipped cars (Stewart Haas Chevy 2012 also)

If she had atleast been average last year this would not have been as big of a surprise in my eyes.
