I would love to see them bring out the Juke Horns and a do a ripping Can't Turn You Loose.

They tried it in 2002 and didn't quite get it.

If they could just sit down with that Gregg & the Alabama All Stars version from 1994, THAT is the way to play it. Love to hear Derek insert a ripping slide interlude before the final sax-blast.

How about halograms of Duane and the other departed members of the band sitting in on some tunes.

I'd like an acoustic set of old blues numbers. Old Robert Johnston tunes, that sort of thing. Something....different, not just new cover tunes, but something new, something that the fan base isn't expecting.

I like the idea of exploring some less obvious, obscure blues tunes. Gregg is back sounding power, so he could really deliver on these, whether acoustic or full-on electric.

Also, how about Need Your Love So Bad, Just Ain't Easy, Get On With Your Life, Nobody Knows, True Gravity, Win Lose or Draw, God Rest His Soul, Outskirts of Town, Loan Me a Dime, Drown in My Own Tears? Covers + songs not played very often or at all would be more than welcome.

I don't really care about the songs they play. Just REHEARSE more. These guys are capable of playing as good as they did on 3/26/09 consistently. It was mostly Gregg's health issues but the missed cues and flubs last beacon run were too many not to call attention to.

I'd be happy with another acoustic set like last year with different songs in the mix.

I would love to hear an acoustic set. Gregg, Warren, Oteil and Marc.

Next vote: Down In Texas

BB King Medley

I like Axeman's suggestion for Can't Turn You Loose. The cut from the Alabama All Stars is really really good.

Would be nice to see Thom Doucette with the Brothers again. I think Jack Pearson would make a great guest for a few tunes during the Beacon run.

A short bluesy acoustic set at the Beacon would be nice if the audience stopped chattering and yakking through it.

X2

I think you've got some great ideas here.

Only thing that could be better is new originals, new originals, and more new originals.

A full-blown, properly done rendition of My Favorite Things would probably be the coolest cover the ABB could do. I'm talking a serious, 20-30 minute monster where Derek goes off like never before.

East-West by the Butterfield Blues Band is another song I have always wanted the ABB to play, but it would probably take more work than they are likely to put in for a song that is basically a cult favorite that most people don't know. 99% of the crowd would be going "What is this song and is it ever going to end?"

That is the only time I would ever be part of "the 1%"

Stuff they have recorded and never play. Although they won't because Gregg does not want to take the time to re-learn them.

Bad Rain
Temptation Is a Gun
Get On With Your Life
Whats Done Is Done

F**K YA!...In my mind this is one of the few jams by a 'rock' band that rivals some of the ABB stuff(Dark Star can sometimes enter this stratosphere). I would love to see the ABB give it the full treatment....

All great calls....."Win, lose or Draw" with Gregg out front on acoustic....would be nothing less than awesome. When I caught Gregg's show in San Diego a few weeks back, the highlight of the performance was the power and control Gregg seems to have regained over his voice and range.....

"Just ain't easy" would have been my other choice and that one is quoted above as well....Kudos to hotlantatim....Serve this one up with a heavy dose of the leslie booming from Gregg's Hammond B3....

I wouldn't mind an acoustic "Pony Boy" w/Derek & Warren on acoustic and Dobro....bring Butch up there to do his "hambone" thing.....Complete this one with Chuck Leavell on piano....

"Dimples"!

Nothing/no one will topp PBBB's version -- Leave It At That
it's the Allman Brothers, what about some ABB songs
JJ's Alley>drums>Oteil bass solo >boogie section w/Blind Love>back to the jazz/rock of JJ's -- whatever
I love the ABB

Plus 1 on My Favorite Things. If they could break out Spanish Key last year, they could really take My Favorite Things to the next level. Ron Halloway or Bill Evans could help it along also. Didn't Ravi Coltrane sit in one year ?

I vote for more ABB tunes, less guests, and stretch things out to include songs from throughout the recording career of the band. Not too much to ask !
