David Bowie's first album of new songs in ten years, The Next Day, drops in March. The first single was given a first listen today, his 66th birthday.

I am a huge Bowie fan but haven't liked an album in a long time.

That didn't get me too excited either. Pretty morbid for a first single.

I think Tin Machine may be the last thing that I liked in it's entirety from Bowie and that was almost 25 years ago. Since then some albums have had moments but that is it for me. Most have been low energy and on the morbid side. I have just about every album and most haven't got a listen since their releases.

According to guitarist Earl Slick this is the mellowest track on the album, which made it a curious release as the first single. The album according to Earl has plenty of rocking tunes and some good mid tempo numbers also. Earl said David's voice is in fine form. The band is just waiting to see if DB wants to tour.
