The 'Kardashians' is not allowed on my t.v.

I sort of like 'Moonshiners'. How could you not when one of the leading characters is named, Tickle? I mean they can't make this stuff up. I can't believe the local authorities can't just follow the camera crews. I make believe it is real for the entertainment.

I watch, 'Gold Rush' now and then but old man Hoffman's voice makes me cringe.
I just root for 17 year old Parker Schnabel who runs his own crew, operates all the big machinery and still gets his homework done at night.

There is a God. 'The Jersey Shore' is history and sadly due to the storm, 'Sandy' much of the area was destroyed.

I like tattoos and watch, 'Ink Master' when I get a chance. My question is this. What happens when the volunteer bodies get a horrible and sometimes big ink job? I guess they get a good sized fee and a free coverup.

Never could get into, 'Survivor' after I read about the size of the production crew. Although viewers were supposed to believe these people were stranded it was far from the truth.

In reality the production crew which was always close by consisted of about 150 people. Director, technical staff, food staff, medical staff, sanitation staff, security staff and last but not least...on site payroll staff.

We don't watch any of the reality shows that elevate outlandish actions to appropriate behavior. We do watch Grimm....kudos for thinking outside the box on that one, NCIS - both of them, CSI Las Vegas, Treme and Dexter. There are a few others that I like but those seem to be the main ones we try not to miss.

The wife and I love Dexter! Don't watch any of the reality shows, although my wife and daughter have watched DWTS and The Bachelor before. I think they've watched The Voice also. In general if it's not sports, NGC, or the History Channel I'm not interested.

I met and worked with Survivor creator Marc Burnett on the Eco-Challenge New England, which was an adventure race that was part of the first Summer X Games on ESPN in 1995 (the resort I worked at was the base of operations for it)....it was sort of like Survivor and The Amazing Race all rolled into one, and was very real. . Say what you want about Survivor (I don't watch it), but what an amazingly brilliant guy. Some people you can just tell have the midas touch, and he was one of those people. I probably should have hitched my wagon to his when I had the chance. The Apprentice and The Voice are also his creations, along with many other money making "reality" shows.

The only "reality" show I have ever gotten in to watching is Big Brother on CBS. Can't explain why as it is pretty much the same crap as many of the others. Dr. Will was awesome.

There is nothing real about any of them.

One of the funniest is Mantracker. Two guys on horses with a full camera crew chasing two people and an entire camera crew. Then he finds a track. Well considering the amount of people involved if he only finds one set of tracks then he is pretty bad at it. Try running with a camera and hold it steady for a shot. All shots are set up. comical. Hulk Hogan's fights are more real.

I watch Ink Master with my wife and that is about as real as it gets. They are obviously paid and get coverups if botched. The funny part is the judges/experts covered with bad tattoos. Not sure what makes Dave Navarro an expert but he is a better host compared to many.

Can't stand all those Storage shows as they are complete **** .

Thank God that Dog The Bounty Hunter is almost gone completely. All that talk and not even a punch thrown over all the seasons. More **** . The only real part was his family falling apart and him going broke. Hope it was all worth it for 15 minutes.

Big Foot on Animal Planet Sunday night at 10:00 P.M. EST. If that's not reality TV, then I don't what is. And this raises the question - If a Squatch was on Jeopardy versus the Kardashians, who would win the show?

The Amazing Race wins out. We both love to watch for the different places they go.
It would be nice that they would have one race devoted entirely to places in the US though.
Gator Boys is a fave. Too bad they had to move out. I think that's going to put a kink in that county's tourism dollars.
Cannot forget Swamp People, it's a good choice too.
Actually, anything concerning swamps and gators interests me. I grew up swimming with gators in the Alapaha swap in south Georgia.
It was the snapping turtles you had to worry about.

I used to watch, 'Dog' every now and then. One episode Dog and his wife started talking about how intense their sex life was and I never could watch it again. It grossed me out.

Compared to, 'Amish Mafia', 'The Walking Dead' is good enough for 'Masterpiece Theatre'.

'TWD' is actually fairly entertaining with a few hot babes.

I watch DWTS sometimes, depending who is the cast for that season.

I never watched any of the other contest shows : The Voice, AI, Bachelor, Amazing Race, etc.

I think the other shows are semi-scripted.

I watched Keeping Up With The Kardashians the first two years. It was kind of funny then.
Soon after, it is really jsut sad sometimes as in Bruce jenner is a nobody and treated as if he is a no body. Reality is Kim got her big break for making her name heard in selling her most personal , intimate moment , having sex, for 5 or so million dollars.

I could never quite figure that out.
To have this of you live on forever and it is still free out there on the net is just so sad.
Seems to me she could have , no matter how the vid was leaked to Vivid, to let Vivid have it for free with her complete rights to original, having it destoyed and she having complete editorial over it meaning she left in nude shots of herself, but edit out everything else.
Really. Hey, everybody does it, but no one wants the world to see them having sex.

What do I know . All I know is these people, Kardashians are mking money byn the millions hand over fist from Sears to Nicole brand nail polish, I think it is , nail polish, to QVC ....
RH of Atl was ok the first two years. Basketball Wives in Miami too for me. After that , they really go trashy. Every other word is profanity and it is knock down drag out fights.
Now, I like Shahs of Sunset.
it is ok.
It will probably go bad for me soon too.

I guess it is what people about these shows in comparison to fast food. You get filled up quickly but then after, you are jsut left feeling empty, are empty nutriton wise.
These shows, good at first, entertaining, and then after, kind of left feeling bad , dumb as people say.

I was a fan of Storage Wars until I heard the recent accusations from the short dude with glasses on the show that the interesting items found in the lockers we're mostly plants by the shows producers.

If you watch Bid and Destroy they always come across cool stuff behind a piece of plywood or under and old rug. I do demo work and we never find anything more exciting then a ladder or some old porno mags. LOL

I like Survivior but it seems at times scripted to keep the more controversial people on the show over the survivior that everyone on the island likes.

The Gold miner show is classic. The Oregon hillbillies crack me up. They all mortgage their homes etc. and then pray for gold. End of the season they split 100 k between 5 guys. I know **** is cheap in the states but 20 K over 4-5 months plus travel costs, etc. aint paying the bills. Also if they we'e mining in Canada they would be getting taxed Cdn style. So they are walking hoime with 14 K tops.

Do you get Buffalo Air in the US? Thats a good one.

Last point a barge operator I use here on the west coast will be on one of the logger reality shows next year. The guy is a character. I am looking forward to his appearance.

We talk at work about putting forward a west coast barging reality show to the producers. You want to meet some characters, ride in tug boat for a day.

Looks like I watch too much reality TV these days. Bring back the NHL!!!!!

love, you make a good point.

I was a kid then, but Tony Orlanda and Daw, Carol Burnet on Saturday Nights when parents went out and we hada babysitter, Flip Wilson , which you can catch on some cable channel now...I forgot whoch, Donny & Marie, good musical -comedy-variety shows.
Of cpurse, Sony & Cher was the best -my opinion anyway, LOL!!
Things come and go in cycles.

Right now, it is all this reality stuff.

it will have to end. it has been on for so long . That is waht is strange. These reality shows/semi-based reality shows have gone on way passed tv life.

DWTS, AI, The Voice and ones like this are edging the old musical/comedy-variety shows.
I think they will make a comeback soon.

Crime dramas of Barnaby Jones, Mannix, the rest, well Law& order of everything thing at anytime, LOL, is around. CSI.
It is there.

What about serial dramas, mini-seris?
I don't think these will ever come back.
With cable, Lifetime, you can get all the mini-seris, dramas you want.

You have Scandal, The Good Wife and ones like this for drama.

They are not going anywhere soon. The cost of doing these shows is very cheap as compared to most shows. Huge profits to be made plus no stars too shell out millions for. If any of these reality "stars" gets a big ego, they can be dropped in a heart beat like that "Yup" guy on Storage wars. Replace him with anyone. Now he sues because the show is fake? Really? As if that is supposed to be a shock and he knew it all along and took part. Part of his claim is about the breast job that the woman got which he claims they made her do. First they are her breasts so not sure why he mentions it at all. Plus it is her choice and her 7.5 minutes of fame. She could have said no.

Plus if people get bored watching a show about truckers or crab fishing and ratings drop then they can just grab a new profession and give us the Exterminator or some guy in a swamp messing with gators. Pretty much an endless supply.

The channels that show many of these have ratings well beyond anything tht they did before. History channel has very little to do with history now but the ratings/money is out of this world..

Another great show is Canada's Worst Driver. Don't think that the US has a version. This you can not fake and it is terrifying knowing that these people actually have a drivers license and are on the road. No one could fake driving this bad. They make them do a bunch of different skills tests and watching people try to make a 3 point turn over and over, hitting everything on the road is comical and scary.

The chinese woman at the 3:10 mark has been making me cry with laughter all season.
