Doubt if many of you had wondered where I was, but back during the summer I had started losing feeling in my left hand, and it slowly crept up to my elbow. I couldn't use my left hand for very much, and being left handed it stopped me from doing a lot of things I needed to do.
Try mounting a motherboard with those tiny screws using only your off hand.
So after several tests it was found that I had possible nerve damage (ulnar nerve) between my elbow and wrist. Mid November I had the surgery and my arm was immobilized in a brace and wrapped like a mummy, held up in a sling.
The doctors found the nerve had attached itself to a sheath of the muscle next to it, and had to trim a little around the area, put a groove in the elbow joint, and moved the nerve over a little.
So after two and half weeks in the brace, two weeks of getting my arm and fingers moving again, I can type good enough, very slowly though, to get back on HTW.

It still lets me know it's there, but so far no huge problems other than waking up Tuesday and finding what looked like a golf ball grafted under the skin. Just a slight attack of post operative bursitis. Doc assures me that it will go away, but-----

Glad you are doing better Jerry. Had a problem with my numbness starting in the shoulder and going to the hand. Saw a neurologist and after a MRI he told me surgery would not be needed. One of those things that would heal itself at a rate of 1mm a month. Bulging c5-6 discs. Put me on a 6 day steroid pack to reduce swelling of discs. Now on a heavy daily diet of Gabapentin.Seems to be working. Numbness is now just limited to my hand but I have good use of it. Good luck in your recovery.

Danny get a soft neck cervical collar and when the discs bother you, wear it around the house for a few hours. It helps to align your neck properly. Also be mindful of your head, when we do computer work we naturally lean forward causing a condition called "forward neck" which can aggravate neck problems. I had 2 really bad sprains (car accidents) and a fracture, 6 years of physical therapy, (massage and realignment - gentle traction) still get some spasming sometimes, when I do, I use moist heat and "turn off the world" just get away from all the stress.
