I know I'm preaching to the choir here, but its hard to believe with as little activity as there seems to be within this band, that they can't get the the percentages worked out, and this product to market.

Band obviously doesn't owe us a thing, but it also be kind of nice, every once in awhile if the band and/or its management could get something nice out with a minimum of drama.

I heard it would be ready to go as soon as Gregg gets done signing each copy.

I disagree. Because of US, every member of the band lives a life of comfort beyond our wildest dreams.

They owe us a lot.

I don't get it. It's like they are trying to badly manage the band. There were not even any guests on that night to deal w/ contractually.

Put the Moogis tape on a DVD and sell it. And if they did not make a provision in the original contract to do so, why not? Easily could have provided that the one tape goes to DVD say 2 yrs after the show (to allow Moogis an exclusive for 2 yrs). Closing in on 4 yrs now....

Agree with the lack of activity regarding any ABB releases. For this DVD i think the moment has past. Releasing a 40th anniversary DVD almost 4 years after the fact doesn't make sense. I would still buy it but beside the ABB die-hard fans who would buy it? It's "yesterday's news" .

Too bad Warren wasn't one of the owners of this slowly sinking ship. If so I suspect we'd have the opportunity to buy a great deal more product from the ABB archives. Especially a relatively cheap to produce product like the 40th anniversary DVD.

I agree with what your saying.
But I've seen how these things go as fans start getting after each other over expectations, so I tempered my initial post a bit.

But having said that, all I'd like is for the band/managment to see through what they promised back in 2011. While I'm not expecting the real reason for why this isn't forthcoming, it'd be nice if someone gave us an acknowledgement that it WILL or WILL NOT come out.

But the Christmas season is basically gone, and with Beacon dates about 3 months out, if they want to sell a few copies of this, they might want to have it available to sell at the merch booth.

And again, I'll echo what others have said on these threads and in this Forum, I don't get the business plan for this band.

The band makes a bundle of money from performing concerts that they aren't even worried about what is out there on the market for a fan to purchase in regards to the band. They don't make as much money through sales of merchandise as compared to concerts. Seems only thing that is different each year is the concerts t-shirts.

Sure has me a bit miffed about how the band is being run.

Not every fan around the globe could go to a show.
Putting out a DVD helps connect with all those fans.

LOL

Fan entitlement expectations run wild.

They owe you NOTHING. They worked very hard for all that they have. You have given them nothing that entitles you to anything.

I Don't think there would ever be a 40th DVD. too many artists, management and record companies involved to ever get them all to sign releases for the artists involved. And without that it would never be financially viable.

So you expect the band to lose money to please you.

right.

Agree completely that the band owes us nothing (or I them).

But the 40th DVD was reported to be just the 3-26-09 anniversary show, that had no guests. Perhaps for the contractual reasons w/ guests reason, or simply that the show was stupendous.

Again..and as sure as the sun coming up I know we'd get there...I'm just looking for any information on a release that was mentioned, I believe by Butch and some others in the ABB circle, to be coming to us in 2012.

I didn't start the thread for fans to get after each other based on expecting the band to release something. So can we focus on finding out about the dvd, and less on trying to kick each other in the nuts? Gracias....

Without the special guests I don't see this as much different than the last Beacon DVD.

Ill bet , once the band "calls it quits" [which may be sooner than you think] you'll see lots of stuff released.

We were certainly hoping for a Holiday release of this DVD as well. I do know that it is being worked on. Maybe it will be available for the Beacon run in March of 2013...who knows?

Please remember, because of all the times the ABB has been screwed over and the resulting lawsuits to correct that, there are a number of legal entaglements for most any project. And, we all know how fast our legal system moves. I'm not saying this is the case here but it could be. There are so many "behind the scenes" things that happen that the average fan is not aware of. If it was a slam dunk, it would already be done. These guys are no dummies and it is frustrating for everyone involved.

Just sayin'...

"The group also plan a 2012 release of their 40th Anniversary show held at the 2009 Beacon Theatre. After years of the band being protective about their material, the group is excited about the possibilities of this deal.

"Longtime manager Bert Holman says, 'This new relationship will allow us to get music into fans’ hands quicker and more readily than ever and will give us the added marketing support that these projects deserve.' ”

Quite....

That makes sense to me -- they might be planning just that kind of thing -- as a way to keep $ coming in, in retirement -- any retiree has those concerns...

Question is, would being "in retirement" relieve any of the same legal entanglements as when they were working, in terms of releasing DVDs/archive material etc. -- wouldn't seem so -- but maybe, as a "retired" band, that would change a certain legal/tax-exempt status of the band, suddenly freeing up the release of this stuff without threat of being sued etc...
believe me I don't know what I'm talking about -- just guessing at it
I love the ABB

Well, if they aren't going to release anything then why can't we pass it along freely? There are bunches of web stream captures of bands performing live that make the rounds.

wish this would have worked out...as much as I love the music of the ABB, i often find myself shaking my head regarding the way the entire operation is run..

funny too because Warren releases/business outside of ABB is always top notch IMO. blown away by the deals and bonus material/bundle package options with the Georgia Mule boxset and WHB live at Moody releases etc.....it has always been like that

and as far as getting contracts worked out etc....sure wasn't a problem for the Deepest End dvd/cd release (which again, what a great deal that was...and such a wonderful idea IMO)
