I was bored today so I went to a local used record store. Some diverse finds:

1. Genesis Abacab - Always loved that album

2. Blood Sweat & Tears first album

3. Graham Nash & David Crosby - I didn't know of this. Jerry Garcia, Phil Lesh and Bill Kreutzman are all on it.

And a couple of oddballs:

4. Johnny Rivers at the Whiskey A Go Go

5. And just for kicks, a 78 of Burl Ives.

All for 49 cents each.

I was at my local used store earlier this week and I found a MINT copy of Van Morrison's St Dominic's Preview.

This one is hard (and expensive) to find on CD now as it has gone OOP. Van is upset at Polydor for some reason and is blocking it's re-release if I read correctly.

So, I was really happy to find this one .

I seem to remember reading a very positive review of that Johnny Rivers live one ...

Nice haul Lee ..

Thanks Peg! I think so too...

The cool thing is , I went into that store with the intention of hopefully, finding a resonably priced copy of this on CD.

I had a reminder note with me for some fill in the gap selections that included two by Uncle Tupelo and specifically, Van Morrison's St Dominics Preview.

I quickly found and scored a nice, clean used CD copy of Tupelo's Anodyne, which is a fine album btw.

There was nothing else in the CD section for Tupelo or Van that I did not already own, so I decided to try the vinyl section, even though CD is usually my first choice music format . Nothing wrong at all w/ vinyl, just personal preference.

The M's were at the very front of their row, and this gem was smack dab in front. I could tell immediately from the pristine cover that this one was a keeper. My inner voice actually said Wow! when I saw it. The vinyl looked unplayed. I was thrilled to find that it sounds just as great as it looks.

I sure do love music ...

I had no idea David Crosby started out in The Country Church.

You're lucky you have a record store to go to spend a boring day, they are going the way of the buffalo.

Good look Dave. I never had much luck down there. Cool store right off of Broadway in Times Square but they charge tourist prices. You probably know the place. More of a museum actually. Not sure if it is still there but there was this nifty place not far from the Beacon at like 82nd Street or so and I think Amsterdamn.
