If someone can run through the west quickly (Jets, Preds or Flames) then Lightning will be in tough. Size and snarl matters in playoff hockey.

I also think Leafs can beat the lightning (Vasilevsky needs s to play normal) and have been through some adversity this year where Lightning have been on cruise control. Should be more divisional matchups in final run to the playoffs and that should trim Lightninings point lead.

Leafs are a talented bunch but not sure about their D in the playoffs when things get more physical. Leafs will also draw a rough first round with Boston in all likelihood which will not be easy Anyhow, that is one tough division.

the Rangers have been somewhat fun to watch this year. They are trying and working very hard just lack some talent. Henrik is having a really solid season and a few of the kids are developing nicely. Again tons of rumors that they cannot keep Zuch and Hayes and Kreider long term.

should be an interesting trade season. i think a lot of teams are on the playoff bubble and the next 2 weeks will clarify things for several of them. What Ottawa does will be big. Also Columbus--who I think will move Panaran. We shall see.

Great game for sure last night between the game's two benchmark franchises in the birthplace of hockey, Canada

we took a two-goal lead into the third period of the second of a back to back last week in NY
& let it get away
Now it's Toronto's turn
after that great game last night (a treat for any hockey fan), Leafs skating into MSG just now for the second game of their own back to back w/Rangiz

....Phlyerrs, also Chi-Hawks and St.L, now rampaging up the standings -- no reason NYR can't too -- tonight would be the Perfect place to start -- let's go Broonz, we see Chihawks Tues.

Just have to say, happy retirement to a great athlete, Lindsey Vonn
Few-if-any sports are more high risk than downhilling -- at 34, Lindsey has been listening to her knees -- they've said, "Lindsey, it's time," & she's agreed w/no regrets -- she's left it all on the hill, no doubt about that
a class act, top rated in 3 of the 5 disciplines --
when you crash in downhill racing, it's tough -- Lindsey has had a couple over the last year
finally, yes obviously .... easy to the 9s on the eyes -- the quintessential/ultimate skier chick -- & dedicated bomber who bounced back from tough injuries to compete well again -- she's the tops & thanks Lindsey

it's a winter sport, plus her 'steady' apparently is NHL player PK Subban....

We Can't Let Them Go W8 In Our Own Backyard -- Patrick Kane & ChiHawks must be stopped tonight!
hehe ( ) -- Broonz -- no David P for a spell, bummer -- I liked the move putting Pastrnak on 2nd line w David K, & putting Danton Heinin up w/Patrice & Brad -- Get back pronto, David Pastrnak

Happy Birthday Phil Esposito
Phil turns 77 today, the same # he saw when Ray Bourque handed Phil his jersey on Phil Esposito Night -- then took off his own to show that yes, #7 would be rafters-bound w/his, Phil's, name on it -- & the Gahdn quaked w/approval
Stahtd his career w/ChiHawks, finished it w/Rangiz, in between his prime as greatest goal scorer of them all
Yes just as Duane said, "this is a religion we're spreading here"
....In that exact-same time-frame, Bruins also had a religious-like following in greater Boston & NE
Witness, the bumper sticker on most every car thereabouts

Pretty it was not (Monday at SJ)
2 points it was tho & no complaints -- we pulled dead-even w/them for third overall (35-17-8)

we see them next week, & buzz in stands will be palpable
"will this be Joe's final game in Boston"*

his knee has held up this year -- #s are down, but he's taking every shift & in The Tank, Shahks are definitely Crank -- crushin it

'#s are down' -- was 10-21-31 going into Monday game, but he slammed one in w/3 seconds left 1st period to mar a fast 3-0 start -- then puts up his first-ever SJ hat trick as we go about almost screwing things up

but Joe, 39, should get some big early-game love Tuesday in Boston -- his knees have been balky last few years, he's had great career -- 15th on all time scoring list -- of course his 1st seven years in Boston

but great races w/them-Calgary, & again this year w/Nshvl-Wnpg

look at Habs, blink of an eye, boom -- way-back, same place as where us or Tor could be just as quickly --
Another Toronto-Montreal Saturday Night in Canada Saturday, their first one last month went to OT & by every account lived up to the age-old billing -- this one's in Tor, a lot on line for coach J & Habs

we're going good, 6 straight, the last 3 w/out David P, who is due back by end of month -- having trouble protecting leads tho & shorthanded goals continues to be a problem

watta schedule, iron of league in town next week -- Shahks -- St. Bluis, wow they're goin
then yep -- TB after that -- Tampa Bay -- as it's setting up, they might become earliest to 100 pts at our expense, on our sheet, if they beat us
So yeah -- black & gold all the way

*Cup final???

yes, well-received it was not -- by anyone involved!!
Howabout the infamous '5th wheel' too, Joe Zanussi

Was cool to see the great Rangiz Goal A Game line together a few weeks ago as the #11 of the great Vic Hadfield was raised to the rafters in retirement -- boy that was some line alright
love this stretch-run time of year -- good one tmrw night w/the LIslandrs and Calgary -- an article recently said Islndz' 1st-rounder will be at the Colesium -- then back to Barclay after that for some reason

Trade Deadline day approaches, thinking Bruins better hurry up and grab at something. Hopefully they go out for Panarin or Duchene. Big ticket items for little return.

Leafs could use some toughness on the wings.

Can't believe how good Tbay is. They remind me of the habs in the 70's. They never **** en lose!!! I wonder if they grab the presidents trophy and fall in the first round like so many before them. Vasalevsky is amazing in net. The horseshoe has to start tearing at his rectal area opening up his five hole eventually.

In the west Jets look good and preds are tuning up for a long spring run. St. Louis has to make the playoffs. I love the Lets go Blues chant.

Playoff hockey is ~ 48 days away!!!!

the trade deadline is always an exciting time. My Rangers are dumping the load according to all the papers. Just hope they get something for Hayes and Zucharella. Two very good players and Zucccc is everyones favorite so i still hold out hope they resign him.

Tampa looks unbeatable this year and i would be very surprised if they dont hoist the cup. They have no weaknesses. Best defense and one of the best goalies in the league. Their offensive power is also as good as any other team. So all these teams trading up for missing pieces to make a run will fall short this season IMO. The Lightning are going to run the table.

Would you take the Lightning over the other 7 eastern playoff contenders in a prop bet? Not offering to bet you but just wondering if everyone but face licking Bruins fans and Diehard delusional Leafs fans like me would take that bet?

If playoffs started today - Tbay plays Columbus a team that may look entirely different after Tuesday.

Maybe I'll hold off on this discussion for a week or two.

yes i think i would take lightning to win the East. I believe they are that good a team. I am neither a Lightning Bruins or Leafs fan but a Ranger fan so have no dog in this fight. Just an opinion.

The math is simple -- we leapfrog them for 3rd overall w/a win -- it's 2 must-have pts

They played last week in Calgary
now the burning Flames (2nd overall) pay a visit to Uniondale LI & cavernous Nassau Colesium -- two goals 29 seconds apart 3rd period, Calgary won 4-2 last week in this top-flight matchup of div. leaders -- NY/LI will be Motivated, esp if it's a sellout

but yes, NY looms large this week, Rangiz can help us out if they can play physical & wear down TB tmrw in the 1st of their, TB's, back to back

Then, once again -- Big Apple can be our friend 2nd nite in a row -- when Toronto visits LI Thurs -- thinkin Islndz will come up big in their 2 crucial games

just like us in our 2 games vs top teams -- looking forward to it 2nite, but we gotta be better than we were last week against them -- a 4-1 lead became a 5-4 deficit b4 we luckily pulled it out in OT -- but played well against St.L, 60 xclnt minutes that could've gone either way -- Blues will be in the playoffs

then it's TB Lightning & their 100 pts Thurs
It was Russian leader Nikita Kruschev in the 1950-60s Cold War era
Now it's scoring leader Nikita Kruschov & red hot rays from sunny Florida, as far from Siberia as you can get
They'll find it cold both in Boston & NY tho --
It's 4 Must-Have Points -- watta team -- black & gold all the way

Am a bigger fan than most (hockey in general, B's especially)

If NY beats your team, Tor, tmrw tonite, that helps Bruins
Nikita Kruschev was Soviet Union leader during Cold War era (1950s-60s) -- the NHL's leading scorer's name is similar

The Bruins played the St.L Blues, a fast-rising (improving/on a hot streak etc) last Saturday night -- great game

it's pretty basic -- we beat SJ last nite, so that gave us 83 points in the NHL standings, to 82 for San Jose, the team we beat (leapfrogged)

TB is 4th fastest to 100 points in 63 games or less
this I know is complicated for some to understand

TB Lightning visit NY Rangers tonite, then us tomorrow on the second of what's known as back to back games
same w/Tor Maple Leafs -- Edmntn tonite -- LI/NY Islanders (Islndz) tomorrow

to hockey neophytes everywhere, BROOOONZ -- Zdeno's hit on Kane last night didn't look illegal to me

Yep, barring the proverbial unxpctd -- the 2 ancient foes, Toronto and Boston, will circle-warily into combat for 2nd yr in a row in a 1st round playoff matchup of finals-caliber squads -- other way around tho, it'll be Leafs at B's

Patrick Marleau, 39, passed Dave Andreychuk for 7th all time in games played
Tavares took all-the business last night in his return to LI
Marleau's return to the Tank last season wasn't anything like that -- but it takes something to play that long -- a little luck too

blathering sports-addled brain, but 7-0-1 w/out David??* also, Danton Heinen Finding a home w/ Patrice & Brad (what winger wouldn't)

St.L went w/a rookie goalie in Jan. -- his #s are sick -- they have a very good game 2nite w/Carolina, both are dead-even (34-23-6) -- St.L could give the Blues to a lotta teams

but a top NYC Twinbill tonite -- slumping Habs are up against it as they fly into NYC & Rangers game for the millionth time --

also Islndrs and Wash -- the two top dogs in Met div--
same Nshvl-Wnpg in Centl div. -- both have slowed down tho & St.L is catching up quick

I know my blabbing crowds people & keeps them from visiting the thread -- it's no more than a sports-addled brain -- so waddabout it BROONZ -- watta team, black & gold all the way

* David Pastrnak, Boston's top scorer

The return of the WHALIZ, ya
was great the 1st time they played -- yep there they were in their original green/blue home unis -- best of all, the TV announcer announced them as the Whalers for stretches of the game

but yes, same thing tmrw nite -- they'll be in their original Hartford Whalers road uniforms
but they won't have hotshot scorer Larry Pleau, or great D's Jim Dorey and Rick Ley -- or other 'legendary' haha, charter Whalers --

-- They're Really Goin -- they're playing like their championship 1974 Avco World Cup team -- not to mention their 2006 Stanley Cup team -- pretty sure it was 74, it's all upstairs

finally, two of the all time greats -- Bobby Hull & Gordie Howe -- Teammates, New England Whalers -- you could look it up

but cool of Carolina to play B's paying homage to their WHA/NE roots (their 1st game was earlier this season) -- but tmrw nite, roof will fall in on the Whaliz
...Not In Same Fashion As Hartford Civic Center Jan 1981.........
but on the sheet
