awesome tribute last night.

Boston Bruins Remember Our Fallen Heroes: Prior to tonight's game, the Bruins offered a moment of silence for Boston Firefighters Mike Kennedy and Lt. Ed Walsh. In the photo - taken by the Boston Globe's John Tlumacki - the Boston Fire Department's shield can be seen on the ice during the presentation of arms. Our thoughts and prayers remain with our fallen heroes and their families. God bless them all.

Hope the pic comes out

A great photo -- stunning -- thanks for posting WharfRat -- John Tlumacki must've been w/the Globe for the last 30 years or more -- him and Stan Grossfeld...

Wott A Team tho -- 9 points up, 9 games to go for East conf. -- the bigger fish to fry now tho is w/St.L for home ice thruout!!!
-- we've had some luck tho, no Kane & Evgeni for ChiHawks & Pens, is the equivalent of no Tuukka for us -- huge absences
east playoffs will b no picnic -- like the Bs, NYRangiz (5 straight), Canadiens (7 of 8) & TB also playing playing well at right time (altho -- "Rangers' Kreider out indefinitely after surgery") -- & should continue to against easy road opposition their next games...
we might just see Leafs again 1st round -- only the hockey gods & some desperation saved our skin against them last year...
YA, BROOONZ -- wotta team

Tragedy in Boston. Best wishes to the families.

Regarding the Bruins- i would be hard pressed to find a better team this year. Just do not see anyone in the league taking them down this year. They will wear down any team in a 4 of 7 series. Very talented club, built around 4 lines, a solid goalie and some talented D. Big and physical forwards that take up the ice.

Montreal has played them very well all year but very questionable if Habs can survive long enough to face boston and if they do, i just don't see them winning a 4 of 7.

There are other good teams in the East like the Rangers but they don't have the physical guys to play with Boston. Lundquest will stand tall but just don't think he can pull it off.

but it's not a pretty picture -- Leafs have lost 7 straight -- Wings not much better --
a Sat. nite loss at home would be 1 thing, but to your ancient regional rival...
former Bruin Phil Kessel can't do it all -- Leafs will be booed off the ice -- &, indirectly, mayb out of postseason altogether -- w/a loss tonite -- should b a Slammin' O-6 game

they play tonight at 7:30 -- a biggie, both w/99 points -- not so long ago, that would've been considered a plausible Cup-finals preview

well, our playoffs start now -- down the stretch for home ice throughout -- with St.L
This IMO is its own Stanley Cup final -- they're obviously the 2 best teams, in a photofinish to the wire after the marathon season...we got a 3-point jump

Gosh -- if the finals stahted tmrw., -- it's be the Bruins and Blues

If -- IF -- a laughing Bobby Orr dropped the ceremonial first puck in the 1st game in Boston -- down at the end of the ice where he scored 1 of the most famous goals in history, resulting in the most famous photo of all hockey times on May 10, 1970, the last time the 2 teams met in the playoffs*
...and IF Noel Picard was also there (he's the one who sent Bobby flying) --
I'd be so awash in nostalgia I wouldn't care who won (haha) -- that's the only way they could do it in a hypothetical B's-Blues final

Tuukka made 52 saves today -- the guy's a beast

YAAHH, B's

* not 100% sure of that, but think so

NEW YORK -- Hockey great Gordie Howe has a book deal.

G.P. Putnam's Sons announced Monday that Howe's memoir, "Mr. Hockey," will come out Oct. 14. The publisher says the book will be "the definitive account" of Howe's life, starting with his birth in a farmhouse in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan and delving into his extraordinary five-decade career.

The 85-year-old Howe was a six-time winner of the Hart Trophy for the league's most valuable player and played on four championship teams with the Detroit Red Wings.

Will look forward to this (via library loan ) -- in fact we got an O-6 back-to-back in Det. Wed., then Tor. Thurs -- maybe Gordie will b there Wed. -- I don't like our chances of winning if he is, as fired up & inspired as Det. would be at having Mr. Hockey in the house, & fighting for the playoffs like they are...

they have a lotta greats, like Sid Abel, Alex Delvechhio, Gordie, Ted Lindsey, Stevie Y, Niklas Lidstom -- in those 6 players is more than a century of playing for the Red Wings...

hopefully both Kane & Toews will be healthy for playoffs for 'Hawks --

Wottateam -- let's go B's

Yah, there's some cleaning up to do after the other Philly-Boston game last night left the joint a stinky mess -- that was a disgrace & the B's will set that s--t straight this aftrn -- at the same time is St.L-Colo., huge -- c'mon Colo
Let's go B's -- yah we're good -- AnaMDucks have resurfaced, Shahks still right there -- we're neck n neck w/StL

Pittsburgh beat Colo ystrdy despite absence of their top 3 scorers, Sid the Kid, Evgeni & Chris Kunitz
that's a little bit what makes me nervous about playoffs -- that was a big game, at home for Avs -- they did outshoot Pitts & a shootout loss is by no means a disaster, BUT...

Johnson is good. But losing Tuukka would be devastating.

I think Claude is doing a good job giving him proper rest, especially since they got back from the OLY break. Kinda helped they already had a nice big lead

Those "injured" Pens are costing me our hockey pool. It used to be rest the guys for the last game. Now it is take a week off. Bullsh*t.

Everything looks good for the Bruins in the East which is why you guys should worry. Upsets always happen when things seem perfect.

On the upside, the teams in the West will kill each other before getting to the Finals maybe.

"Kane Vows to be 100% for Playoffs"

ChiHawks force OT w/late goal against Habs -- yes it's crowded atop the west conf -- they're all nippin at our heels right now, glad we don't see 'em in playoffs (until finals )

They tied it w/48 seconds left, then scored just 43 seconds into OT
All roads to the Cup wind thru the Windy City -- I think we can get 'em this time -- Let's go Bs.

That is one of the things that I like about you Stephen, you are a dreamer.

While at Disney with the family, I noticed a guy in front of me in line was wearing a Boston Eastern champs shirt. I tapped in on the shoulder and said nice shirt. He turned expecting a fellow Bruins fan but what he got was a Chicago Stanley Cup shirt and hat. The look on his face was priceless. We had a pretty good laugh.

Wearing a shirt with eastern champs is like wearing a shirt saying I almost got laid. Bad karma.

Agreed 100%. I have never bought or worn division/league/conference champion gear. Fortunately I've been spoiled and now have 8 sets of World Champion gear from my Boston teams from the last decade or so...sometimes its fun to mix and match.

(hehe)

but damn, 1st the Wings & Hawks w/last minute goals last night, now another tonite Messes Our S--T Up
but wow, just like that, St.L suddenly out of 1st place after 4 straight losses -- two pts tonite & we're at home thruout
Let's go Broonz -- yah I'll always contend that winning the marathon's as good as winning the sprint -- black and gold rules

Fun pre-playoffs in last wknd of reg. season -- NYR at Mont tmrw nite, Rangiz are hot & can still overtake Habs**

Det.-St.L Sunday, suddenly, Blues could finish as low as 4th out west -- watch out for Wings, they bounced heavily-favored Ana. Ducks last year

Colo-SJ tonite -- Colo going good -- a Shahks win'd give them home ice 1st round w/ChiHawks (going by the 4 vs. 5 seed, if that's still in place -- unsure) -- it would make them the 2 teams w/the highest total points ever in a 1st-rounder...

then Colo.-Anaheim Sunday w/conf title possibly on line...

it's Bruins, we've played awesome this year

**incorrect, it's their last game w/Mont. up 3 points...

There's the same reasons to b nervous as last year 1st round against Leafs -- 2 opponents cut from same cloth & Wings going good at end of season
normally I don't go for the "it's playoffs, u can throw reg. season out the window" line, but does apply here -- taking the 1st 2 games would definitely lighten the task but no mattawott -- Broonz, 7

Still only December and I hate to admit it, but this may be the year that the Blues go deep into the playoffs.

No real reason other than that's my gut feeling. So there.

If it pans out that way there's a new cham-pee-yone in town
A Cup finals worthy first rounder & impossible to pick -- St.L was real banged up, that's why they went so anemic at end of season (5 goals over final 7 games) -- Bhawks were banged up too but both teams saying they'll be healthy
Blues outplayed ChiHawks during season & have home ice -- Hawks have Cup & that O-6 intangible...ya ChiHawks in 6

Bruins 7
ChiHawks 6
CANADIENS-TAMPA -- even tho East is weaker, its matchups are more competitive (besides Chi-StL) -- like B's-Wings, TB had 3-0-1 edge in reg season -- home ice is Large, Habs are not accustomed to playing in summer conditions -- but they're extra-motivated to show that a-kee iss alive & well en Canada as the nation's only playoff team...
Habs 7
RANGIZ-PHILLY -- Another good one, real tough to pick -- home ice less a factor in this one, there's always Flyiz fans at MSG & vice versa -- hmmmm
Rangers 6
Penguins 5
Colo. Avs 6
AMDucks 5 (TThomas ridin' the pine for Stars)
SJ Shahks 6
