Buttman saw a lot of good shows, but he's still a d*ckhead.

Any random Canadian on the streets of Toronto could do a better job.

And every third person in Buffalo.

Bite your tongue. Toronto is the only place in Canada where you won't find someone capable.

No seriously. If we were talking about cricket or soccer than Toronto might be your place but hockey? You would need some actual Canadians living in Toronto for that to happen.

Imagine the day when sports fans/season ticket holders go on strike.

Every athlete in every sport would do the same thing for $100,000 a year. Instead the fans give them miliions and they all complain?

Messes up the pools damn it!

Will have a box pool ready to go though. Leafsfan has already paid for this season. Goona lose that $10 if it goes the season, Mike.

Gives Lee a chance to get that Loonie also.

Still on the look out for Jack. Hope and pray that all is well with him. Didn't post during the playoffs and not since Feb.

Thanks Mike!

Jack is a long time member, class act and great guy. Not to mention an annual donator to the hockey pool.

Maybe you two going back and forth last season tired him out.

Missed having lunch today with my Dad and former Leaf Fleming MacKell. Old friend and former team mate of my Dad. Before our time but any Leaf that won two cups makes him a legend.
Would have been great to hear the old stories but have a feeling that I have heard many a few hundred times.

Fu*k the owners!!!!!! Fu*k the players!!!!!!! Fu_k Bettman!!!!! Fu_k the NHL!!!!!!!!!

I stopped going to games live after the last work stoppage!(was a 10 to 15 game attendee before that) They can stay out as long as they want. Maybe this time I will stop watching and paying attention to their product altogether if they don't end this bull$hit fast. The owners and the players aren't getting hurt at all by any of this nonsense. Can't figure out how to divvy up their huge cash pie while lower workers for teams and at arenas lose their incomes??? What a bunch of morons!!!!!! Then in the end when the owners concede and give the players more the fans will be left to pick up the tab in the form of higher ticket prices that are already brutally overpriced. Eff them!!!!! Call me when it is over and I will decide if I want to watch these selfish clowns.

Hard to argue much of that for sure. All athletes are far over paid and we are the suckers that make it possible. If someone could organize the fans and season ticket holders of all major sports, what a day that would be. Will never happen but would end all the greed.

The lockout does hurt some in a huge way though. Sure some guys make millions and have long careers. But some make minimum or close and they have 2-3 year careers. This money sets them up for life. Losing a 1/3 is devastating in the long run. These are also players with little influence and can't speak out against the multi-million guys.

But this will get settled. Too much revenue to be lost. Give up on the NHL is not in the Canadian mindset.

Have to have something to watch in our igloos in the winter.

Just got the saddest news from Leafsfan. Appreciate you finding out this sad news even if I hated reading it.

"Sad news Mike, Jack Learment passed away last February, forget the exact date. He was , apparently, fighting liver cancer. He told only a few people, felt terrible on a Wednesday, hospital on the Thursday...passed away on the Friday. There was no service, or even an official announcement, as per his wishes..."

I was afraid of that. Quiting is not a Canadian trait so I knew Jack would never walk away from this site.

Jack goes back to the old site around here and was as kind, friendly and caring as any that I have met here. Our last few messages were him being concerned for me and health issues. His concern and advice were a great support. Worried about me!

He loved the ABB and hockey at all levels. Made his annual donations to the pool and stuck with those Red Wings to the end everytime win or lose. Will enter his two teams this year in his honor and maybe he will finally win.

Will miss you Jack and the NHL thread will never be the same without you. Instant Hall Of Famer! Damn Cancer Sucks!
