I wonder if Nash is poison to a room? Rangers aren't any better by having him around.

Pretty unfair to put the Rangers problems on the acquisition of Nash IMO. He is their best offensive player hands down. The guy is a monster on the ice and it's a blast watching him play. A friend of mine calls him Bugs Bunny. Huh? He asked me if I ever saw the BB cartoon where Bugs is on a baseball team and he plays every position. He says Nash reminds him of that.

Some of my thoughts for their struggles -

1) Tortorella's act is starting to wear on the players. While the players bought into his hard nosed style hook line and sinker last season he's been pushing too many of the same buttons without getting the old results. The public lambasting and calling out of star players after last weeks loss in Buffalo didn't win him any points with his group.

2) Tortorella forcing Gaborik to play left wing. Gaborik is a career RW who piled in 40 or more 2 of the last 3 seasons. Sometime he looks lost on LW. It's obvious to everyone the switch is a failure, and T lets it continue. Almost like he wants him to fail. Rumor has it Gaborik is on the trading block.

3) Keeping all top four defenseman healthy at the same time. Their d'men 5 on down are awful.

4) IMO thIs is the single biggest reason - The loss of Brandon Prust. The man had that uncanny ability to light a fire under the team with a single hit or scrap. No way could the Rangers give him the money the Habs did, but no one has been unable to step up and replace that intangible.

For this Rangers fan, 2013 is starting to feel like 1995 all over again.

Agree with all and would add that Torts will shorten the bench way too far and too early. Plus as I mentioned during last year's playoffs, blocking shots takes its' toll.

Torts act wears thin just watching a few minutes of watching, never mind being on the team.

I notice no Sabres love from Leafs nation this week?

Tomorrow it'll be a maple leaf being blown out to sea -- c'mawn B's, stay with it, we're doing good -- revved up offense like that Sat night & still coming up short -- that's a slump alright

Iginla is now a Penguin. How can these guys afford all this under the cap?

Chicago will still kick their asses.

Looks like Jerome canned a trade to Boston.

That was all they could talk about last night was him going to Boston.

Ooops.

there is something terribly wrong when penguins can get a player like that. How is it possible in this day and age for one team to get all those stars. Makes no sense to me. Obviously Crosby makes everyone better so guys like Kunitz and Leteng are just much better than they would be on other teams. But Malkin, Ignala and Crosby are all bonofide superstars. There is no way anyone is beating this team unless guys go down with injuries or unless their goaltending tanks.

That was a major coup by the Penn's. Everyone is texting Iggy to Bruins, TSN even showing Feaster head to the office to seal the deal after Bruins game over. Aaron Ward stated on TSN. He is going to Boston. Then at 10:30 pac time on Sportsnet Pacific, Don Taylor leads off with a Lee Corso "not so fast", Jerome is going to the Penns.

Not too tough a choice if it was me. Go hang out with a bunch of flopping, diving goons in Beantown or play with Crosby and for Lemieux.

Love the fact Flames could have got more from Boston but Iggy said nope, I like me some Steelers football.

LOL - I can't agree there. The Penguins forgot to get a goalie. they can score but they can't stop them. Does Iggy make them unstoppable? No. He is long past prime. Still a decent player and has heart but no longer superstar status player. Same with Morrow. Sometimes adding too much isn't a good thing. Not much for team chemistry bringing a half dozen new guys on board late like this. Definitely makes them a favorite but with hockey there are no guarentees or sure things.

Boston got stiffed.

Ottawa is definitly leading the pack for the team of the year award. The number of holes they have filled with call-ups from Binghampton is crazy. And they keep winning. They just work harder then their opponents.

Bishop made a huge shoulder save last night. Right out of road hockey.

Be interesting to see how the Sens do once they start replenishing their roster in the next few weeks.

Leafs Sens tomorrow night. Should be a great game.

Hey Cmule is Melnyk whining again about obnoxious Leafs fans taking over the bank?

No he is currently leading the CSI teams to prove that Matt Cooke cut Karlson on purpose. Bringing in the experts! I think he may be dipping into the meds leftover from his Biovale days.

Ottawa is a great story this year though. Three awesome goalies. Anderson was poised to be the best goalie in the league this season when he went down with injury. The other two step in and the team doesn't miss a beat. Lose the top center, the Norris winning defenceman and then last season's leading goal scorer to top off their #1 goalie. Then a few assorted regulars. Replace them with call ups and still keep winning or picking up at least a point? Incredible.

This Leafs season just keeps getting better and better. Watched the Leafs Sens at a Sens friendly bar here in Victoria. Yes folks in the US there are bars dedicated to hockey teams. We are that drunk on the game.

Anyway walked in to the bar with an old friend from Scarberia in our finest Leafs gear and proceeeded to enjoy another Leafs win amongst the Sens faithful. It has been a long time since I can say I like the way this team is going. Not since Gary Roberts was playing second fiddle to 13 back in 98 or so (which was a joke) have I liked the makeup of a leafs team as much as I enjoy watching these guys.

I don't see Nonis making any major moves at the deadline. I hope not anyway.
Bring in some backup players but please no Luongo.

GO LEAFS GO!!!! First rounder against the habs would be so sweet.

Didn't take long for the Hawks to take the starch out of the proceedings tho -- 3-0 practically before they finished serenading Gordie with Happy Birthday

C'Mon Bruins We Need These Points -- our offense has gone quiet -- we need to make hay on these games in hand

You should be worried Stephen because the Bruins are not winning so far against Buffalo and Buffalo looks terrible. Sad but true.

Ahhhh the rollercoaster ride that is life as a leafs fan. I think you were crapping on them a week ago. And likely next week again. I think I had more faith in them than you did. But one game against The Sens does not give you a Cup just yet. I enjoy the Leafs being a playoff team though.

Hawks pound today.

And Stephen's Bruins finally show up. Not a good game Stephen by either team.

Probably, LOL, the lockout has made me cautious. I have tried very hard to keep an even keel on the Leafs. Watching with both eye's open, sober, etc. As the saying goes this ain't my first rodeo.

By adding some goonery, some in yer face attitiude, playing north south hockey, they have become the kind of team I like. That boiled out of me after a few beers on Saturday. It's been a while since a Leafs fan could point to their team and not moan and groan.

LEAFS!!!!
