Not to defend this, but did they really think people would not leak it?

And am I the only one that sees something inherently elitist in giving some fans a password for better seats as oppossed to other fans who happen to not post a lot on a website but love the ABB just as much?

it has nothing to do with how often you post. either your a member of the site, or you are not.

and yes, the password is a bit "elitist". but we are the "elite" fans, are we not?

i just feel that people that where giving away a password to people who are
a. potential scalpers.
b. casual fans
c. not interested in it at all

is completly wrong and has screwed me over for decent tickets to the presale. a presale that my friends and I have been looking forward to for months now.

the presale is designed for members of this site. THIS SITE. not the PHISHHOOK SITE, or the MULE SITE or the jackass.com site. for us. not them. if they wanted it, they should have joined the damn site.

of course people who want to make an impression of being cool on other sites will leak this info. hence the tie to the whipping post.

did you get tickets KnownRider?

No. And they did email me the password, but I did not even notice it. Guess that makes me daft in addition to nonelitist.

I think tickets should be for the general public, NOT radio stations, ticket agencies, or people who happen to post on a website. Just my opinioin.

...looks like I'm losing any friends I might have had on p'hook...

BTW - these presales are available to anyone who signs up here and that's it - nothing elitist...maybe more importantly, the seats set aside for these presales are not all the "best seats" or anything - in fact my personal experience has been that I've ended up with better locations during the general sales.

There is no way that anyone who got a POG couldn't know it shouldn't be posted all over the place...

You said it, not me

honestly; this was the whole point of the presale. its sad that KnownRider doesnt understand that.

and like billyblastoff said in a different thread:

Whoever gave up the info... man you don't understand. There are pirates and profiteers who manipulate this market. Ticketbastid is bad enough. Scalpers and beneath even Ticketbastid.

That dude selling on Ebay is a broker. If I remember correctly the laws in New Jersey allow scalping up to a certain percentage. Unfortunately there is no oversite and tickets are sold at percentages far over the legal limits. The market is artificial. I've been to many "sold out" shows that had many, many empty seats. Fans (short for fanatics) really want to go and will pay high prices. If the scalpers were not inflating the market there would be more affordable seats. In fact, I think the biggest benefit would be bands playing smaller venues.

I understand enough to see that it is a complete failure that is having the exact opposite effect unless those eBay ads are a joke. Sad that YOU do not understand that.

Seems to me selling the tickets in a numerical and linear fashion in blocks of 4 would be the best and simplest way to harnass chaos. The best of a lot of bad methods.

I guess I also did not understand that posting on a website constitutes a "real fan". Sure, there are no other true ABB fans except us. Nah, that ain't elitist at all.

i emailed him asking him how he got tickets before they even go on sale...

and incidentally, i got an emaill back from Mark after sending him a strongly worded one:

quote:
I'm sorry about that.

I thought the info was well known on emule.

I knew they had ways to filter out non members anyway, and I thought it would make more people want to become members too.

But I was wrong and I apologize. I didn't think before I did it.

A couple of people have emailed thanking me because they didn't know there was any benefit to being on Peach corps, besides an email, and they plan to join.

If that's any consolation.

Mark

at least he shows remorse.

skydogj was also on phishhook whining about ticket prices and wished us "rich brothers and sisters" a nice NYC visit. Then gave the password. Scum, scum, scum.

Those scalpers even write off the tickets they freakin' burn at the end of the year. I, many years ago, shamefacedly had a "ticket broker" in New Jersey just across the river. One day he pulled open his lower desk drawer, you know the big deep drawer. It was full of unused tickets bundled and rubber banded. Thousands... literally THOUSANDS of unused tickets he and his cronies had bought to scalp and/or drive up the costs of seats. Disgusting.

The above from the other thread as well.

Rider - you don't get it. I'm sure in your mind this is all about free enterprise. It is not. Scalpers create a Bull Sh!t market. They are thieves.

That's pretty low of someone to leak the presale password info in a public fourm like that.
I've been involved in pre-sales before and stuff like this didn't happen.
People are already scalping tickets on Ebay.

and i guess my question to KnowRider is how you can question such an obvious point...

it was WRONG to give out the password to people who where not registered on this site, and people like me, who will travel to the Beacon in March (and not before to wait on line for tix)....are suffering because of it.

You don't get it bro. I agree that leaking it was wrong. You will get no argument from me. I am merely pointing out that such an action, as sleazy as it is, and it is, is inevitable. So taking that into account, yes, I question the common sense behind the move as oppossed to simply, well..., selling the tickets in a normal fashion.

There are a lot of cool people on this site. But there are always going to be some jerks or perhaps some people who just do not stop to think things through.

OK?

but, i disagree that members of this site, in my opinion OBVIOUSLY FANATICS, should not be given exclusive rights to a first grab at tickets.

I understand Rider's point. The plan ain't leak-proof, for sure. But it is an offering to fans with good intentions--an attempt to do something nice--and I'm okay with that because they don't have to do anything at all. Folks get upset when it backfires a bit. It'd be nice to have a better plan but with any system, there will always be someone to figure out a way to undermine it. Especially when they think they can make some quick $$. It's sad. It's certainly wrong to knowingly give out the password.

But you know, I'm with Lana...I'm an optimist. I like to think that good will prevail and karma will take care of the rest. Hey..our Left Coast buddies made out with front row. I'm happy for them! There's the bright side to all this pre-sale snafu business for me....the flickering flame of hope, if you will.

Friday morning the rest of us may be singing a happy tune, too.

Peach.
