Filmed on the closing night of this year's Montreux Festival on July 16, this concert features Deep Purple playing their classic hits with the accompaniment of a full contemporary orchestra conducted by Stephen "BK" Bentley-Klein. The orchestrated arrangements give an added depth and range to the familiar songs and the band, who are clearly enjoying the experience, deliver one of their finest performances. With a career stretching back into the late sixties and global album sales in excess of 100 million, Deep Purple need no introduction. They continue to record and perform around the world on an ongoing basis and remain of the finest hard rock bands on the planet as this live double CD/DVD clearly shows.

Set list:
1) Orchestral Intro
2) Highway Star
3) Hard Loving Man
4) Maybe Iím a Leo
5) Strage Kind Of Woman
6) Rapture Of The Deep

8) Contact Lost
9) When A Blind Man Cries
10) The Well Dressed Guitar
11) Knocking At Your Back Door

13) No One Came

Thanks for the heads up, and thanks plqmule for the MK4 link, didn't know that was already out, rumors have been swirling for a couple of years. I looked on amazon.com and reviewers are not saying real nice things about Tommy Bolin in the video.

As far as the new Montreaux 2011 DVD........I'm sure it will be good and I'm interested in seeing it. It would be particularly interesting to see them with an orchestra. I saw them in June of this year, only a few weeks before the Montreaux show. It was advertised as being with an orchestra but they ditched that the week of the show. I assume it was due to the poor ticket sales.......there couldn't have been more than about 5,000 people in an arena that holds 10,000. Still, they were very good as always. Only one problem though: Ian Gillan has a very tough time hitting the notes these days. He struggled the entire night. Not sure I want to spend $18 or whatever they're getting based on Gillan's current struggles. But as a DP freak, I'll probably end up buying it.

Agreed about the setlist. I would actually take it a step further and say it is really good!

The first concert I ever saw as a "grown-up" was Deep Purple. 1985. I was 16. My mom let me go to the concert. Atwood Stadium in Flint Michigan. Blackfoot opened. They played a blistering version of Morning Dew. Deep Purple was the loudest thing I have ever heard in my life.

Nice memories. I have the ticket stub somewhere.
