Been away for a couple of months and have noticed it's a little quiet in the forums.
Is it time for a lot of concerts, or has everybody just been busy like I have?

I must have missed the memo on that one.

Constant logging in has killed the buzz and some nasty trolls have taken their toll.

Yeah, I kinda figured that when I went through some threads and they looked a little "disconnected" several posts in. Saw some replies to posts, but couldn't find the posts the reply was for.
Kept looking for some of the more well known posters, but haven't seen any posts from them even going back several weeks.
And it seems that the first page of each forum might have several days of threads that were last posted to. Very unusual.

The Guestbook took probably the biggest hit...it is now a Facebook clone. "I'm looking out the window now...I'm taking a dump now...I'm back now...I'm now, now...." As many have posted, this site is not what it once was and those that are taking it down are clueless.

Dan, I disagree about the GB being a Facebook clone. You can't post pictures there, you can't "like" someone's comment. Yeah, maybe there's a lot of fluff there, but it's a way for the folks on site to connect. I see no harm in that.

The problem with the site, or what has taken the joy out of it, are trolls who are relentless in their quest to agitate and aggravate. That, and the partisan political discussions in the WP, where discussions oftten end up resulting in name calling.

since we got mods there can actually be,for the most part, civil discourse about music, even with strong disagreements and differences in opinion...

there seem to be more new people too...

i like this alot and avoid WP...

a few may still take disagreement as agitating, but there's little if any mean personal attacks thereby allowing for great discussions--hope it continues...

don't seem to notice any trolls, but i'm not really looking...

as for the GB its absurdity can be entertaining....

My point is that this is still Lana and Rowlands place and it has become the defacto offical Allman Brothers Band website. That being said, is it really appropiate for a guest from Spain coming to this site and having to wade through trivial personal stuff that people could handle in a PM? If I have something to say to anybody here, I take it to a PM so my business isn't known in Mexico. Rowland even has a forum post on it: No personal stuff is to be posted. I recall it used to be that way, ie. PM's were the way to go.

I also feel that Reddog's passing should have never been posted here by a 'fan'. Lana had to post the announcement after someone here couldn't restrain themselves--- this is not our website; we are guests here as much as a newcomer.

All it would take is for Butch, Gregg, or Jaimoe to pull out of this venture, refuse all use of their copyrighted material, and that would be the end of this great thing Lana and Rowland started. We've all seen stranger things happen here, I for one want to be posting here for a long time and some of the new pups running around on the front porch are starting to get the attention of the sleeping old dogs.

News of Red Dog's death should have never been posted on the guestbook like it was. Period. I know that others here feel the same way.

I haven't been in the Guestbook for several years, too hard to keep things on track since an answer to a question might come back several pages later.

TanDan, I think a lot of people are like me. They don't read the stuff on the log on page, just go to either Forums or Guestbook. Saying that, it's possible that the person (I don't know who posted the notice) that wanted to inform others about Joe's death went to the
place they thought more people would see it as quickly as possible.

Myself, I try to not take things posted personal since different people have various perspectives on what is appropriate.
