Happy Friday gang! Friday run today. Missed Wednesday due to a medical procedure but got in the pool yesterday. Nice weather today. Hopefully I can get some trails in.

I got out on my bike for the first time in a couple of years last Saturday. Felt good to get out on the road. I'll get out for an hour tomorrow too.

Keep chuggin' along everyone!

I'm reaching some pretty cool personal milestones...after all the walking and the elliptical and the swimming and the paleo eating...I'm now under a weight that I haven't been in literally 20 years.

Went for the physical last week...resting heart rate 48, glucose 85, BP 102/74.

I go back in two months and if my BP is the same or lower, then my doc is going to take me off BP meds...completely and permanently.

Now that feels mighty good.

I do know one thing about being as overweight as I was for so long...I ain't going back. Ever.

Excellent Bhawk...I used the Paleo diet and lost 50+ lbs. I'm the same weight now as when I graduated high school....Never in my life did I ever think I'd be down at this weight. The Paleo diet for me was easy....lot's of protein....

I'm going to visit with my trainer tomorrow and see about a new program. Been on this one for 3 months and made good gains but i need to reassess my weaknesses and get them straightened out. Lower back, left leg and flexibility I'm sure will be the topic's of discussion

The road to 13.1 continues for me...

38.5 miles this week

All time high.

Still struggling on the scale. Might have to look into this Paleo thing

The concept of the paleo diet is no grains(Rice, bread, pasta), dairy(Milk - yogurt - cottage cheese) no potatoes

The diet is based around Lean protein and a balance of carbs that you get from fruit and veggies only. Nuts are great as a snack but no more than 2 oz a day...no peanuts they're legumes which is also not on the diet. No bread or beans..i.e legumes or alcohol

Of course there are cheat days when you can have whatever you want but if you stick to the basics of the diet you will lose weight and you can eat as much from the lean protein and carb sources that you can handle. I wanted to be 180 lbs when I started so I took in 180 grams of lean protein and 180 grams of carbs a day

I ate a lot of chicken, fish, shrimp, center cut pork chops or pork tenderloin and lean red meat...flank steak - sirloin...no rib eyes or porterhouses :-P

I supplemented my protein with 2 protein shakes a day that I put fruit in, Bananas, apples, peaches, frozen strawberries and I found a triple berry mix of blueberry's, raspberries and blackberries....not fruit juice which is really sugar flavored water

Any veggie you want and as much as you can eat.

4 - 6 small meals with snacks. Lean protein and carbs of the same amount each meal

For snacks I mixed non-salted roasted nuts,, walnuts, almonds, cashews, pecans, macadamias in a big bag zip-lock bag and I would grab a few hand fulls during the day.

No processed foods or ready made meals from a box

Just clean eating

Oh they do allow fats. Olive oil, Grape seed oil, flax oil. some books say butter other don't

I use olive oil to cook everything I don't grill and then I put olive oil on what ever I'm grilling...I'm Italian so I've been using olive oil for cooking all my life

Some people don't like the flavor...so grape seed oil is flavorless

I even cook my eggs in olive oil...

eggs are also allowed on the paleo diet as a source of protein

Cooked up some fish tacos tonight. Put some olive oil on the fish before I grilled it. Good stuff! I can eat tacos anytime.

Wharfy - 38 miles is strong for half marathon training. Don't forget that important cut-back/easy week somewhere in the middle of that high of mileage. It will keep you from burning out and restore your energy level!

I am now 13 days away from Boston! I ended March with 203 miles, after only 150 in February. It was the right thing to do because I was starting from 0 on October 1. I'm now in the taper where I'll do around 30-35 miles this week and 20-25 next week then a day off before race day. My hamstring is still not 100% but I don't think it will hold me back. I'm going to get back on my PT work for it consistently after April 15.

Even though i was able to do more miles in March than I though possible at the beginning of the year, I'm in that typical taper mode of second guessing my training! I'm looking forward to some renewed energy over these last 13 days. Day off today.

Meanwhile, my bulging disc lower kneck/arm/shoulder issue has gotten MUCH better and I look forward to getting back to some strength training soon too.

That's some series mileage there Tim. Sounds like you have a good plan and you'll be ready for Boston with some fresh legs.

My ususal Tuesday swim today. Felt strong and really stretched it out. I just wish I could get an hour in but I've got to be back at the office. That being said, it feels good just get in the pool. Tomorrow will be an easy run, no climbs.

Yea.. Tailed off a bit this week so far.
Ran 3 through hills on Sunday. After 14 miles the previous 2 days that HURT. Alot.
Took yesterday off, just felt drained all day.
Ran 5 this morning, back to normal

Because of my whacky work schedule ( and a 5 K on Sunday) I do my "long run" tomorrow (8.5)

Well I spiced it up today. Since I missed my swim yesterday due to work stuff, I swam this morning. Being Friday, we did the Friday lunch long run too. Felt pretty good on both counts but didn't push it real hard either.

If I get up early enough tomorrow, I might get on my bike. Then again, I might just listen to tunes, sip hot chocolate, and hang out on ABB.com...

Happy Friday gang! Cheers!

Great workout this morning, supersets followed by elliptical and rowing machines. Eating more fruit and veggies, and am starting to see more definition while dropping a little weight. Off to daughter's soccer game this afternoon, final four tonight. Life is good.

So only 24 miles in this week. NOT happy about that.

Running a 5 K this morning, first one since Sept. This is also the first race I ever did 3 years ago.

Time flies

Started a new leg routine last week...I'm doing walking lunges after I squat...my legs are just toasted by the end of the WO....really sore today from yesterdays wo but it's a good sore not like I hurt myself...just gave the muscles a little nudge

Hey Bird...I remember just a few months ago you were saying go for 150...I'm doing sets of 10 with 150 now...big progress thanks for the encouragement. Still working on my form but it's way better and I'm sure as I squat more it'll get better

Did a good upper body today back to my legs tomorrow for another round...I'm on a 4 week cycle started last week with 2 sets of 12 on all exercises this week is 3 sets of 10 next week 4 sets of 8 then the last week 5 sets of 6. Upping the weights each week

Hello and good for you for asking!I just lost 40 lbs in about 6 weeks.I cut out all sugars-i realize this is hard-white flours, salts, breads, grains and to jump start my weight loss I went vegan for one week.I am now back down to 120 and have not put any of the weight back on.I never eat after 6pm.I only do gardening because I had a bad car accident years ago and because of that alone cannot do a vigorous routine.I am 5"9 so I am happy with my current weight.I realize 165 is not too overweight for my height but I feel much better at my current weight. You can do it!I am here to encourage you friend.
