That's awesome ratboy! I'm steadily at it, into a pretty good groove right now. Working more on the rowing machine and liking it. Always nice to throw something new or different into the mix.

Hey Wharfy, how 'bout them Cowboys!

Gotta say I've been neglecting my cardio. I lost a little too much weight so I backed off to try to put a few LBS back on. Got down under 170...way light for my height and body...

Did squats today...I'm able to flat foot it now and so I'm working my weights back up...

Great workout this morning, now the kids and I are heading out to watch three (count 'em, THREE!) state high school championship games at Cowboys' Stadium. That place is awesome! Hope everyone has a very merry Christmas.

Got out for a run this morning in the we chill. No swimming this week since the pools are closed. I'll run again Sunday to keep all the Christmas cheer in check!

Cold cold cold here...Just wrapped up my 2 months of a 6 day upper/lower split...gonna move to a 4 day upper/lower split and put some cardio back in...The plan was to eat like I wanted during the holidays and not gain too much weight...I made it through and now back to our regular diet plan. Made some good gains but I can tell I'm starting to over train on the 6 day.

did a light full body today...rest tomorrow and start the 4 day on Tuesday

Final run for 2012. Ran our luntime 7 miler. Worked the last climb and finished strong. Mission accomplished!

I want thank everyone for the participation in this thread. It's great we're making the most of the opportunity to exercise. It's also motivating. Keep up the good work!

Here's to 2013! "The road goes on forever..."

Ya, last work out of 2012....... did an hour and fifteen minutes of triceps only, that is fun to do, blast the heck out of one body part you don't usually. I either do tris with chest or shoulders usually. But when you only do one body part and blast it, that is where the gains come. Did two handed dumbell extensions behind head, drop down to neck, then extend over head. Weight progression of sets: 50 for 8 / 70 for 8 / 90 for 7 / 100 for 6. I do them standing, only way of getting the heavier weight up, a swing motion to get to my shoulder. Then did two sets of dumbell kickbacks, first set 80 pound, last set 100, 8 reps each set. Finished on pushdowns on pulley machine 4 sets to full stack. The when my tris were totally fried, did three sets of one handed pulley extensions, hold elbow with one hand and extend handle straight in front, very strict form and slow. at that point, last set down to 20 pounds and can hardly do it.

I am going to go back to seated dips for tri's. Trouble is I need a helper to set plates on my lap (and hold in place while I do them). I used to do (3) 45's stacked, so I know I can still no doubt, I think doing 4 plates will be my new goal. Arnold swore by them, and they flat work.

I am hoping my talk of this stuff will motivate some of y'all to THINK BIG

Had a great first workout of the year today, and feel great! Have added more running-cardio on days I used to take off, and now that I am adjusting to it and getting in a little better shape I'm loving it! The gym was packed today, but you know it will be like this for a month or so, then thin out again. Not us! We're in it for the long haul. Happy New Year to all you gym rats.

That Aug 09 to Aug 12 pic made my day Warfy! Great stuff. Crossfit group sounds like a grand idea for 2013.

After an injury riddled 2012, my groin & hamstring are on the mend. I started 2013 with a New Year's morning 10 miler....nothing fast.

Unfortunately, I've had upper back/shoulder/kneck issue the last week, but feeling a little better after my 2nd chiro visit. I'll take it over a hamstring or groin setback. Continuing with my PT work for groin & hammys.

Busy schedule and my back issue have helped me to miss my strength/resistance training, but I'll be right back to it as soon as this feels better....hopefully, by next week.

I have a birthday late next month and that's always a good motivator to be in good shape. Father time ain't got nothing on me. 2013 is going to be a good year!

Hope you're healed up Tim, don't rush it. I pushed a groin injury several years ago and wound up taking over 6 months to heal up right.

Today I ran 4 miles in 45 minutes! I don't think I've ever run 4 miles before. I'm stoked. I'm going to make my goal 6 miles in 54 minutes. Wish me luck!

Nice job Doug! Keep it going.

Did the long, switch back run today. Ran with someone new. We both ran the climbs together without huffing and puffing. Looks like I have someone to push me a bit. I like it!

Enjoy the weekend gang!

Sounds like everyone got it kicked off this year strong...

I'm feeling good about the change I just made to my schedule....I'll hang on this routine for 6 weeks or so and then move another direction...time to add some bike rides back into the mix...I slagged off during the holidays...but kicked up my weight training during that time...added about 40lbs to my squat...and moved to a flatfooted stance...considering I went from not being able to squat at all just about 7 month's ago I'm stoked...I did 165 for 3 sets of 5 today....not the cleanest but I'll work on that before I throw more weight on the bar...watch out bird....335 to go

Did something I haven't done in a while. Did a Sunday morning swim. Spur of the moment. Felt nice. Best part is it made the rest of the day better. Cheers!

Any of you heard of the strong lifts 5 X 5 program. It's 3 day a week routine rotating workout A and B. You totally start with real light weights doing just 3 exercise per workout. For each exercise you first do a few set of 5 to warmup then when you work up to your working weight you do 5 sets 5. Each Workout only has 3 exercises

Workout A Squats 5 X 5 Bench Press 5 X 5 Bent rows 5 X 5
Work Out B Squats 5 X 5 Military Press 5 X 5 Deadlift 1 X 5

That's the whole program and you start very light and each workout you add 5LBS to each lift. When you get to the point where you stall you back off 10% and work back through if you stall 3 times you go and do your warmup sets then just do 1 set of 5 for that week. back off again 10% and start up. There are guys who are benching over 600LBS that swear by it....anybody ever try it?.....It's based around a routine that Reg Park used in the 50's He was one of the first guys to bench 500 deadlift 700 and squat 600...

based on their formula I would start by squatting 85 bench at 65 press 55 deadlift 90 Bent row 65

They chart it for 12 weeks and claim by the end of that period I would be squatting 255 benching 150 pressing 140 bent rows with 150 and dead lifting 260....I might give it a try....

Hey goldtop. Enjoying some of the cds right now you sent me way back when. I'm going to see Gregg tonight and I had to hear Love Light a few times! Run Tiger Run is in the rotation. You guys are good!

Did the long run yesterday with an extra climb. Coolish winter weather here in So Cal. It's refreshing. Today it's pool time.
