I do a split on the weekends, Saturday Legs, Sunday Upper body, and 2 full body workouts during the week..

I needed a day just to target my spindle legs and my wife sleeps in on the weekends so I figure it gives me time to get out of the house and not be making noise while I do something good for my health cause I spent a lot of years doing not good things for my health ...like nothing at all

wish me luck, will go for 450 tomorrow on squats, did 445 double last weekend. A couple months ago when maxing around 405 I tried a 450 walkout only (no squat) and my feet(!) hurt for a week. So last week 445 felt really good so I evidently have conditioned up, including my feet. It was the bones that hurt, so there is all kind of physics involved in training up and pushing limits.

I'm on the same basic schedule as goldtop, with cardio thrown in every workout. Some days I jump rope, some days the elliptical machine, some days I run, some days I walk. Just depends on what I feel like, and I keep the cardio stuff going for at least 30 minutes. Seems to be working! Good luck bird!

Good luck Bird....Just did my legs this AM.....peaking out at 130 for sets of 6.... You better start worrying bird....I'm only 320 pounds behind you...I bet you can feel my breath ...

OK Doug.....I haven't gotten much cardio in lately....gotta get back on my bike soon. I'm was down to 170 this week so I gotta start adding some more complex carbs back in to my diet so I can put a little good weight back on to push those squats up....I'm forgoing bench press for incline bench. I figure my bench goes up as I get stronger on inclines and I get a better chest workout for some reason on an incline.

Goldtop, do the 130 until you can do 8 then jump to 150..... when you can do 8-10 rep set at max, then add a ten'r each side even if you only can do 3 rep sets, that will not last long, then you will be up to 5 or 6 before you know it. I really recommend knee wraps as you go heavier. 4 wraps around, top to bottom, then an x pattern wrap, then one more around wrap at top.

Got the 450 double today, felt great, need to work at depth, but it was weird.... 405 felt heavy today, and had myself talked out of going higher, and then realized how lame that was, and just made it mandatory. I really dig the zen of it, and I think maybe that is what some of y'all find in the running thing, just in a different way.

Sounds like a good plan Bird....Right now I start at 95 for 10 115 for 10 125 for 8 and then I did 2 sets of 6 at 130.....I'm really trying to keep perfect form because of my back problems so to even squat at all is a big accomplishment....300 in 2 years is the goal...225 next year for reps......450 for 2 is great!!!!!

Brenden taking 2 minutes off is huge ......very cool........

Yeah, I don't know about that. Not breaking any records here... Having fun though.

I think I'll do Allaire next.

Why get frustrated? Any time old farts like us get off the couch and go work out its a huge plus! Anything at all is a hell of a lot better than nothing. Just enjoy the ride, the "zen" of it all. Its all good.

Squats this morning 2 sets of 10 with 115 2 sets of 6 with 135 then another set of 10 with 115. I'm trying to push the weight up a little each workout.....since I'm so dang weak in my legs it's shouldn't be hard to expect 5lbs a week in gains for a while.....Trying to go low and keep my back straight. I'm still using wedges under my heels until I get a little more flexibility in the hips and back

Wow! Sounds like everyone had some good workouts last week!

I was off on vacation in Hawaii. Got four great morning runs in including one around Diamond Head. Finished them off with a relaxing swim in the ocean; good for the legs! It was a fun time enjoying all things Aloha.

Been some nice fall weather the last few days. It's made for some nice runs. I did the full switch back trail today and then finished the last mile home fast. Felt good to open it up a bit.

Goldtop I know about those spindle legs. I've tried everything working them heavy and light. Just hasn't worked for me. But I keep trying......
