Digging into the interval running at the track with my daughter. It's amazing to me how important and beneficial changing up your workouts is, and how much it can help keep you motivated. Going camping with the family this week, loooking forward to some nice long runs out in the woods. Keep working folks.

That's some serious work there! Good job Doug.

Did a light run on Monday and swam yesterday. Felt the strong most of the time. Taking the day off and having lunch with a friend of mine plus giving the legs a rest.

Great workout in the pool today. Did 400 X 2 and finished with a 500. I'd been wanting to kick it up from 300 to 400 but kept wussing out. Finally, I just said to myself "It's only 4 more turns." so I went for it.

Tomorrow will be a 5 miler with a hill. After that, it's play time! Rock On gang!

Wow Strat, that's some serious swimming. Went to the track again yesterday with my daughter, ran a mile, then 6 100s, 4 200s, and 2 400s. Our legs were dead! She's resting today for a soccer tournament this weekend. I'm going to the gym to work legs, arms, and back. I'll throw in 35 minutes on the elliptical at the end. Still hanging in at 215, starting to prep my mind for a run at 205.

To all the Fitness Peacheads this St. Patrick's Day, Erin Go Braugh!

Here's to some healthy carbo loading! (It was used for "medicinal" purposes for wounded British soldiers during WWII; rich in iron!)

Cool workout in the pool today. Did 300 X 1 and then 50 X 10. Averaged between 42 and 45 seconds per piece with about 40 seconds rest in between. Then practiced some flip turns.

To give some perspective, Michael Phelps can swim 100 in about 48 seconds... he get's paid though!

8 miles! Wow. The pool interval training sounds intense. I'm loving the way my body has responded to all the work over the past couple of years. Thanks for the inspiration folks!

That's awesome, Wharfie!

I signed up for the Corporate Challenge and checked the "runner" box. I thought it was a 5K but it's really 3.5 miles. Those sneaks. My body immediately rebelled and hit me with some virus that took me away from running for the last week. Just got back on it tonight for 3.5 miles. So there. *laugh*

Tough workout today. I wanted to pack it in after the second 400. Fortunately, I stayed in the pool, rested for two minutes and then did my final piece. It wasn't pretty but I finished and I felt good I stuck to my plan.

It's supposed to be another nice day tomorrow. Looking forward to a nice, lunchtime run.

An early Happy Friday to ya gang!

Research is showing that one of the biggest benefits we may get from exercising like this is from completing a task we set before ourselves, that feeling of accomplishment, of "just doing it." Even when we don't want to. Maybe especially when we don't feel like it. Rest day yesterday, heavy legs and arms todqy along with cardio. Keep working everyone.

Good points Doug. I've found out that excerising can give you some immediate satisfication espeically when things may be hectic. I also know that regardless of what happens during the day, when I excercise, I've done at least one positive thing for myself. Cheers!

I learned something last night.

About two weeks ago I "popped' something in my right foot stumbling over a chair. In my office at work, not even after a drink ot two! ) Ever since then when I walk briskly or get on the elliptical, after about 20 minutes that same spot will "pop" and it just hurts like hell. After a while on the machine it pops on every downstep and eventually have to stop, which is when I move to the weights, work on the upper body.

Yesterday my left foot started hurting, either arthritis or a gout flareup, I'm not sure, but I'm already frustrated by having my workouts messed with that I got mad and went to the gym and got on the elliptical and went like a madman hard for 20 minutes until my right foot started popping again.

Work though the pain, dammit! Right?

Wrong.

Ended up being a terrible idea. Pain is worse now in both feet.

I went through about a 2 month period at the end of last summer where I broke a toe, got sick ,and hurt my back all in succession. I had to just lay out, rest up, and heal. Didn't like it, but now that period of frustration is just a distant memory. We can work through pain, but we have to treat an injury. Sometimes it takes a professional (doctor) to tell us the difference!

Still wet today with a heavy drizzle. I'd rather it either clear up or pour. Either way, I'll get out for a run today. I've always enjoyed running in the rain. I find it relaxing.

Happy Monday gang! Here's to a week with plenty of excercising of all.

Yesterday another swim. The weather was nice and surprisingly, the pool wasn't crowded. Started with a 400 warmup and then 50 X 16. Felt pretty good at the end.

Today will be an easy 3 mile run with some friends.

Gradually increasing my road work now that the weather is so good. Everything is holding up well so far, and I'm hanging in at 215-215. Ready to start my push towards 205!
