Found a new trail in the hills today. Giving it another go on Friday now that I know where it goes.

Did some more trail blazing yesterday. Ended up doing some major climbing. The weather was coolish and it was just me and the elements. I felt like a million bucks when I finished.

Today will be a pool day. Keep chugging along everyone.

Came from my sports med docs today...gotta cut my running down from an hour to 45 minutes with more intense interval training......they feel my hips and knees are taking too much pounding....

Not happy to cut back but I understand the medical benefits given my conditions....

So they're saying the intensity of the interval work is more important than time and distance...even in my resuming weight training since my shoulder tear they are encouraging interval/cardio related weight work......I'm game, but I kinda like my routine...oh well, gotta do it,so might as well do my best....

Hope you're all doing well.....

Strat and Chuck.....I love trails...too rough on the knees but I still do them when I can...and ultimately swimming,I'm convinced,is the best combo of aerobics, strength training without harmful body impact effects.....

Getting old takes a lot of hard work

Two good runs this week and two decent swims (Michael Phelps ain't looking over his shoulder). Based no that, I'm taking the day off today and treating myself to Starbucks. In addition, I'll exercise my fingers and wrists on my Strat today!

A swim in a trail run this weekend. Happy Friday every one!

Went back to doing squats Friday after a long layoff (tanks bird!) and was so sore I couldn't hardly walk this weekend! I'm working hard at protion control and laying off the late night snacks, seems to be making a difference. Back at it today. You guys rock!

I'm loving the increased cardio work, and am gaining in endurance pretty quickly. I have to be careful not to get carried away and overdo it. So far, so good.

Decent swim workout today, nothing fancy. Next week I'm reducing my rest periods in between sets from 1 minute to 30 seconds.

TGIF Workouts today! I'm always a little more motivated to push it on a Friday. Nothing fancy today. Just a short, quick run and then I'm done. Sunday I'll sneak off to the pool for a few laps.

Make the most of it everyone. Plenty of folks out there for all sorts of reasons can't. Count your blessings.

Did 45 mins on th elliptical this am, felt great to work out some soreness. I've gone from a ballooned 240 right after Christmas to 222 today. Still would like to get to 210. Hope everyone is still at it.

Got in the pool today. Reduced the rest periods 50% from 1 minute to 30 seconds. It was a little rough in the middle but I kept going and finished. Will do the same this week and the last workout, I'll try to add another set too (it sure sounds easier while I'm typing than when I'm in the water).

Five mile run on a wet, rainy Monday. It was very invigorating... so was the warm shower afterwards!

Legs and arms today, I'm loving the squats! Very light weight and high reps, but it's all good. Doing some serious interval running on the track afterward. Weighed 221 today. 215, here I come!

Good job Doug! Only 6 more pounds to go!

Ran up to the top of Griffith Park yesterday. Going back, I made a wrong turn. Fortunately, I corrected myself and got going the right way. Otherwise, I'd have ended up on the other side and would probably still be running back to my car right now.

Taking the weekend off to give the body and the legs some rest.

Going for a nice little 3 miler on the road by the lake today. Just an easy run with some decent hills. I think I might actually be starting to get into a little bit of shape. Sweet.

Played soccer and baseball with the family yesterday, did a lot of sprinting and cutting in soccer. I'm sore in places I'd forgotten about this morning!

Got in the pool today. Solid workout. Thursday I'm going for a mile (9 X 200). We'll see...

Tomorrow I'm running Janss Steps at UCLA. We used to run them for crew back when I was in college. I'm shooting for 30 in 30 minutes.
