Sarah Palin blasts Obama administration for WikiLeaks 'fiasco'

By JENNIFER EPSTEIN | 11/29/10

Sarah Palin says the U.S. government’s inability to stop the latest WikiLeaks release is all President Barack Obama’s fault.

Sunday’s document dump of classified State Department cables is the result of the “Obama administration’s incompetent handling of this whole fiasco,” Palin wrote in a Monday afternoon Facebook post and could have been precluded with more aggressive action by administration officials to protect private documents.

Palin suggests the administration raise the ante against WikiLeaks and its founder, Julian Assange. Calling Assange “an anti-American operative with blood on his hands,” Palin asks, “Why was he not pursued with the same urgency we pursue al Qaeda and Taliban leaders?”

The Obama administration on Monday ordered federal agencies to take steps to prevent future leaks, but Palin wants to know why that move didn’t happen earlier. “It’s of course important that we do all we can to prevent similar massive document leaks in the future … why did the White House not publish these orders after the first leak back in July?” Palin wrote. “What explains this strange lack of urgency on their part?”

The former Alaska governor also wonders what else the White House could have done.

“What if any diplomatic pressure was brought to bear on NATO, EU, and other allies to disrupt WikiLeaks’ technical infrastructure? Did we use all the cyber tools at our disposal to permanently dismantle WikiLeaks? Were individuals working for WikiLeaks on these document leaks investigated? Shouldn’t they at least have had their financial assets frozen just as we do to individuals who provide material support for terrorist organizations?”

Earlier Monday, Palin suggested via Twitter the administration could have taken to the courts to put the brakes on Sunday’s document dump.

“Inexplicable: I recently won in court to stop my book ‘America by Heart’ from being leaked," she wrote, "but US Govt can't stop Wikileaks' treasonous act?”

The WikiLeaks founder, Julian Assange, is tonight facing growing legal problems around the world, with the US announcing that it was investigating whether he had violated its espionage laws.

Assange's details were also added to Interpol's worldwide wanted list. Dated 30 November, the entry reads: "sex crimes" and says the warrant has been issued by the international public prosecution office in Gothenburg, Sweden. "If you have any information contact your national or local police." It reads: "Wanted: Assange, Julian Paul," and gives his birthplace as Townsville, Australia.

...........According to the Washington Post, no charges against anyone from WikiLeaks are imminent. But asked how the US could prosecute Assange, a non-US citizen, Holder struck an ominous note. "Let me be clear. This is not sabre-rattling," he said, vowing to swiftly "close the gaps" in current US legislation.

Absolutely. And DFC would have been the leading voice in here.

Personally, I wish the Obama administration would really bring the hurt down on this guy, and his poodle website too. At this point who cares what anyone thinks anyway? The horse is out of the barn. If they can trace mad cow disease back to ONE cow on ONE farm somewhere, surely they can find a pasty, slightly effeminate Australian dude hiding out in his mom's basement, right?

I understand that Interpol is looking for him. He'll turn up eventually. He doesn't seem the type who can survive on the run for very long.

Well let's hope so. Because he sucks, and deserves to be someone's wife in prison.

Eh, Osama is yesterday's news. Who cares about him anymore? I don't think even the most hardened, blow himself up for 72 virgins-type is thinking about Osama anymore. If they caught him then, or if they catch him tommorrow, it ain't gonna stop the Islamo-zombie-death-cultists. They'll just keep on lining up to either blow up, or get vaporized by the United States military.

Perhaps one good thing out of this situation is.....maybe people will stop putting things in writing!!! Good heavens, I learned that when I was 13. You don't ever put ANYTHING in writing that you wouldn't want the whole world to read.....and I didn't even grow up riding down the information highway!

Palin needs to go away and not come back. Most of these leaks were taken back in bush's days in office.

You missed my point completely. I was merely pointing out that it doesn't matter if Osama is alive or dead, the jihad-machine will continue to crank out useful idiots willing to die for "their God."

And dude, really? "Children?" Since when are children "dying for the task of "looking" for him"?

Cue the definition machine!

Children: "The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child defines a child as "a human being below the age of 18 years unless under the law applicable to the child, majority is attained earlier."[2] Ratified by 192 of 194 member countries. Biologically, a child is anyone between birth and puberty or in the developmental stage of childhood, between infancy and adulthood. Children generally have fewer rights than adults and are classed as not able to make serious decisions, and legally must always be under the care of a responsible adult."

You aren't refering to American troops as "children" are you?

So what. As the "mastermind" of the 9/11 attacks, he should still be hunted down and brought to justice. Unfortunately the previous admin let their collective hard on for Saddam Hussein distract them from getting to Osama Bin Laden so now he may never be found/caught.

Agree with the first part 100%. The second part is moronic, and here's why: Your premise that "the previous admin let their collective hard on for Saddam...." surmises that once the decision was made to invade Iraq, the "admin" said "Okay, stop looking for Osama so we can go kick ass in Iraq" or something like that.

The whole "Bush took his eye off the ball" narrative in regards to Iraq vs. Afghanistan is another one of those "theories" forwarded by the left, in the absence of facts, that has become "true" in their minds. It doesn't pass the smell check dude...

I hope like hell it is the Bank of America.

Say what you want, this guy is shining light on darkness.

My guess is that he covered himself very well before he started doing this. Let me go on record as saying Assange is a hero of the people on this planet. More power to him. We are liars and hypocrites. I don't mind the world finding that out.

I guess you'd need to "go on record" if you're speaking for the entire planet. The planet feels better about this now that the record is set. A "hero of the people"? Wow...

What? That is exactly what happened. It is not a "left" vs. "right" thing. It is a wrong vs. right thing.

Please, enlighten me. How exactly did this happen? It must have been deliberate. If not, then GW did way more coke in the '70s than he's admitting to.

You left out another definition of children 'sons and daughters' and yes, there are people's children dying in Afghanistan no matter how old they are.

Most likely the former, but the latter would not surprise me either.

She's just a riot. Portions of her book were leaked all over the internet long before she even filed a C&D.

This is why it's sometimes frustrating having a discussion on this forum. Too much reliance on emotion and not enough on logic.

Ann, EVERYONE is somone's "child" and they are either a "son" or a "daughter" (unless you're going on the Jerry Springer show I think), but by definition, there are no "children" looking for Osama. Unless maybe Osama's a "baby daddy" and one of his kids is looking for him, but I can't swear to that.
