not sure if anyone else caught the Temples of Rock documentary on travel channel last night, but the last segment was about the Fillmore East and had a bunch of vintage ABB footage. Great show, though...2 hours, and covered everything from Sun Studios to the CBGB's

the ABB footage had Duane...anyone see this and know if it's available for purchase anywhere?

Available for purchase? That's pretty funny, bro...That footage is from the Bill Graham archive and if we ever see it complete and for sale, I will be surprised. It was awesome quality too. Man, it pisses me off knowing this exists and is not available to us fans.

It definitely was great quality, considering it's over 30 years old...not sure, but I think they played part of a Dead/ABB show w/ all of them onstage together, 2/11/70 perhaps?

I tried to watch the show at midnite while I was at work. At 5 minutes til the end while they where playing Whipping Post the cable company switched to some shopping channel.
Glad I have Directv at home. I'll have to tape the replay.
Great show ...... what I saw of it.

There's a Travel Channel? Shoot... anyway, I hope it airs on something we get out here soon (Discovery would be fine). I'd love to see this footage.

That footage of Duane and the boys was truely incredible. I wish my copy looked as good. Oh well, something is better than nothing.

Eh....I've said this in another thread, but I guess noone believed me or something. I've got a film of ABB at the Fillmore, Sept 70 I think. It's about 35 minutes. They play Dreams, Liz, Post, ehhhm....I don't remember. But it's out there if you look. Other films, too!

Al, yeah, alot of us here have almost all available Duane stuff on video..and except for the Sept 70 Fillmore footage, most of it sucks. What I saw the other night was something I had never seen and was of the finest quality, and I know the whole show is filmed. I just want to watch it by myself at the Graham offices, no copy needed.

What a great program! The whole show was well done. I have it recorded on my Dish personnal TV, but I don't know how to record it onto VHS. Anyone know how to do this?

I just found a link to the Bill Graham Foundatiion, and sent an e-mail requesting (pleading, actually -pretty damned pathetic on my behalf) that any and all footage of the Allman Brothers Band at the Filmore East be released for public consumption. Why don't you guys do likewise?

The e-mail address (contact us) is: admin@billgrahamfoundation.org

The site for the Bill Graham Foundation is: http://www.billgrahamfoundation.org/

I mean, hey! What've we got to lose by trying?

So what did they show that doesn't already circulate? More to the point, who taped it and can transfer onto VCD/SVCD???

The footage looked like 16mm (possibly 35mm) motion picture film. Of course, the old tube cameras (plubicons) have a film-like quality so it might have been 3/4" video (I doubt it). There are many companies that do film to video transfer, but since we saw it on television, the transfer has obviously already been done. Now if they'd just put it on DVD and package it ...

Thanks Rusty - what songs were played & have we any idea of what dates we could be talking about? I'm particularly excited about the alleged footage of the ABB & GD together (which could only make it 2/11/70, assuming it was Duane-era footage)

Assuming somebody here videotaped it (or even tivo/recordable DVD??), it shouldn't be too difficult to get that footage onto their PC and into mpeg VCD/SVCD format...

I think it was the last show at the Fillmore....we saw about 30 seconds of video...Whipping Post...and then there was that little bit with Duane sitting in with the dead...The dead clip looked much more rustic than the ABB footage, black and white compared to color.

I was talking with a buddy about this the other day; about how much video of the original band exists. I know this has been a topic of discussion on this forum in the past, but is there a definitive list of all the known video of the original ABB?

I'm hoping to catch one of the replays of this show. Here in Chicago the Rainbow just fell to the wrecking ball in the past week. It has been a roller rink for the past few decades but years ago was the site of the Kinetic Playground. Closed well before my concert going days but the stories I have heard and the bands that played there in the late 60's are legendary. As I walked by while they were tearing it down I couldn't help but think, if those walls could talk......

so how much total time does this show have of the ABB peforming?

About 30 seconds...but it was the best 30 seconds of the entire 2 hour show!

Don't think so. I got set up to record the tape, and what comes on, Millionaire Trailer Parks. Checked the schedule for the rest of the month and it doesn't show it coming back.

Jerry...very strange...it's listed on my local cable guide for tonight at 9PM but that trailer nonsense is on. Strange! I nodded off the other night and woke up just when the Fillmore East segment was over...bummer!

I too was watching last night. Although the display kept saying I was watching Temples of Rock, I was watching a series on trailer parks and RV's.....
