The reunited Soundgarden has confirmed that it will be one of the headliners of this year's Lollapalooza festival, set to take place August 6th-8th at Grant Park in downtown Chicago.

In a posting on the band's official web site, the four members of the band vocalist Chris Cornell, guitarist Kim Thayil, bassist Ben Shepherd and drummer Matt Cameron write, "Soundgarden will be one of the headliners at this year's Lollapalooza festival. We hope to see you all on August 8th at Grant Park, Chicago Illinois."

Tickets ($190 for three days until they sell out, then $215) are available at Lollapalooza.com.

Soundgarden's involvement with Lollapalooza has been rumored since early this year, when a cryptic announcement from singer Chris Cornell seemed to indicate that the band was returning after a 13-year hiatus.

Also scheduled to play at this year's Lollapalooza festival are: Lady Gaga, Green Day, Devo, Erykah Badu, The Strokes, Arcade Fire, The Chicago Tent, The Black Keys, Cypress Hill, Raphael Saadiq, American Bang, among others.

Isn't Matt Cameron in Pearl Jam now ? I guess they're playing after the PJ tour is over ?

Soundgarden was one of the few bands I really liked from the Grunge era and Matt was my favorite drummer of all those bands. I think he fits really well with PJ.

At the time grunge was huge, I was in college and it was all I heard. I was staunchly into the Dead and ABB and I was kind of indifferent to the music but looking back, I was lucky to be in school and go out to parties and bars with that music playing because they were actually real musicians playing good rock music. A little heavy for my tastes but as I got older, I like the 90's bands a lot more. Gonna try and see PJ for the first time. I think they're playing MSG soon.

Raphael Saadiq is a great soul singer. A great addition to that line up.

I hope Soundgarden does a full tour, cause I'd love to see them live here in Dallas.

I can't imagine that Cameron would risk his sweet PJam gig for a reunion tour without it fitting in both band's schedules. I never saw Soundgarden but I will what it takes to see them if they get near Atlanta this year.

We'll see if Cornell and Thayil last even this long.

Great band seen them 3 or 4 times in different venues including LPA sometime in the 90's and I gotta say, not that great live. Okay at best, it just never transitioned for me from album to stage, especially the big stage. Cameron would be a fool to give up his gig with PJ to get back into that game. my 2 cents

This will be great as long as Cornell still has his chops. Last time I saw him live with Audioslave his voice was still excellent but in some of the video I've seen of him since then he hasn't sounded so great and was having some trouble hitting the high register. I hope his voice is up to the task.

Totally awesome news i seen Soundgarden back in the 90's at one of the traveling lollapalooza fests that was an awesome lineup the main headliners: Mighty Mighty Boss Tones, The ramones, Rage Against the Machine, SoundGarden and Metallica...

I did get the chance to see Audioslave 2 times...Chris Cornell has an amazing range this is good news i cant wait to see Soundgarden
