Wott an ending! Cards win big.........Atlanta gives up 1 in the 9th and loses in extra innings....... Tampa Bay comes back from 7-0 down in the 8th to beat the Yankees in extra innings...... and Boston gives up 2 in the bottom of the 9th to lose to the Orioles...... too bad the rest of the season wasn't this exciting...

Sure was a pretty exciting last day. I thought the Braves would feast on Blanton. The guy has barely pitched the whole year.

Ain't it the truth?!
I don't know if I can watch the playoff's after the Rays in September. It may be rather lackluster!
Isn't Chuck going to be surprised when he wakes up Saturday?
The Rays. The best team in baseball, money hasn't bought.

They sure have a lot to be proud of given the exodus of last off season.

Last night was certainly an exciting night of baseball.

For this Mets fan though, I hope Jose Reyes dies of gonorrhea and rots in hell (Ace Ventura reference). I hope yesterday was the last time I will ever see him in a Mets uniform. Total deadbeat.

And now, as Carton says on WFAN, itís that time of year again; the church is open. Itís the Mets fans for Yankees Church!!

Jose Reyes is an effing loser to pull what he did. For those that don't know, he bunted his way onto base in his first at bat to clinch the batting title, then pulled himself out of the game so as not to risk losing it in subsequent at bats. Slap in the face to baseball.

Totally bushleague. A horrible example to set.

I wonder if the Phils will go after him...

Oh come on, fellas. As if anyone could do anything to sully the reputation or integrity of baseball at this point. Selig and the owners fess up to their compliance in The Steroid Era yet?

Don't mean to start up this whole argument again, but from my small market seat and another 90 loss season I'm finding no reason to care about MLB anymore. They should just create their 6 to 10 team superleague and be done with it. Yeah, the Royals have a bright future, my a$$. Eric Hosmer will make an excellent Yankee.

Yup. My annual end of season rant. They sound familiar, I've been doing them for years.

Yeah, well, 20 plus years of crap baseball will do that to you. The prices keep going up but the low number of wins stays the same.

Here's my realignment proposal:

National League:
Phillies
Braves
Mets
Giants
Cubs
Dodgers

American League:
Yankees
Red Sox
Tigers
Angels
White Sox
A's

There. 8 big cities, no one has to travel to the $hit towns they make fun of on a constant basis and they have the financial and population base to charge whatever kind of money they want to. Everyone is happy.

It is possible to win in a small market just look at the Rays

AJ Burnett is starting game 2 right any way I like the Tigers chances in this one Verlander and Fister are a better one-two combo than Sabbathia and old fart number 2 and the Tigers have the bats to match the Yankees

Save this year, the Twins are usually in contention. To say the least.

Sure ain't Teddy Ballgame, but Braun pulled something similar. With 3 or 4 games left he sat the game out (was up 3 0r 4 points at the time) and came in to pinch hit after Reyes went like 3/4 to catch up. It was no coincidence.

From what I have read, Teddy was one odd duck but I sure respect what he did playing those last two games of the doubleheader in 1941 when he already had a .400 average locked up. And he raised his average to .406. Pretty cool.

Teddy was perhaps the greatest hitter ever; his integrity proven that day. However, he was so narcissistic that if they pulled the Williams shift (three infielders on the right side) and all he needed to do was bunt to win a game he's still swing away. The last of the purists - and his .388 season at (?I believe age 38 or 39) was perheaps an even greater feat.

BTW - both Verlander and Kershaw won the pitching "Triple Crown." first time since 1924 that two pitchers did in the same season
