Cool stuff Doug (haven't been to Fenway in ages) -- WOW, 106, even at night -- it's almost time to rethink playing when it's that hot!!!
But yes, the Sox are going good (big Papi back, Big ripple effect on lineup as a whole) -- Youk is out, others have missed time here & there (get well Soon Clay B), but we've been awesome -- Ellsbury -- MVP, MVP, MVP

hey just a ?, were Sox rooters more audible at times than Rangiz fans -- thought I could hear Here we go Red Sox here we go, in the background on the radio in last night's game

Really odd chase to the playoffs. Basically only two spots up for grabs.

Go Tiggers!

The Tygiz are in, most likely -- CHiSox/Tribe don't look to have quite enough
LA-Texas will be great this weekend though, & the Sawx & Yankees will continue to wail
WAIL ON BOSOX

And Thome goes back to the Indians. Guy gets passed around more than a bag of tater chips.

A good pick-up for a team that is still in contention

Yes, there were quite a few Bosox fans and they are pretty vocal. Of course, there wasn't much for Rangers fans to get excited about.....Yankees fans are numerous and vocal at the ballpark also when they are in town. This area isn't totally sold on the Rangers even after last year's success. I think people just don't believe it after so many years of futility.

Another Sox/Yanks battle starts tonight, with just a game and a half of seperation going in...sorry Lee, no national TV this time.

Tuesday: CC Sabathia vs. John Lackey, 7:10 p.m.
Wednesday: Phil Hughes vs. Josh Beckett, 7:10 p.m.
Thursday: A.J. Burnett vs. Jon Lester, 7:10 p.m.

Huge start for CC tonight. If he gets racked around yet again, then the Sox are clearly in his head and the NY media will make sure he knows that everyone knows it. If he comes out and shuts them down like he's done to just about every other team this season, the previous 4 disasters he's had vs. Boston this season are all but washed away.

And on a related note...how much more rope is Girardi (if it is even his call) going to give Burnett before he is considered sufficiently hanged?

Yep, let the games begin --

hyperextended elbow, hyperextended knee
now a new one
Joe Mauer, who according to this morning's paper said he hyperextended his Neck & that's what's kept him out the last 5 games -- what a body -- a Hyperextended Neck on top of his earlier "bilateral leg weakness" -- must be tough being a 20-something multimillionaire...
Justin M's newest admission to being washed up -- not playing, "woke up with shoulder soreness" after Sunday's game, according to their website

CC's no different from most starters --they all feel it when pitchin' to the Sawx -- we've hit him well, hopefully again tonite & Lackey keeps us in it in his 6-7-inning allotment -- Youk should be back pretty quick

The TC totally a culture of the environment -- it's become of badge of honor of sorts among players to spout off about how injured they are -- thinking that that shows fans how hard they're trying, to go so all out as to hurt themselves -- well they don't -- not this season in the TC anyway -- & in MLB in general -- w/their bicep tendinitis, posterior shoulder sprains, strained obliques, these hissy-fit neck injuries as seen in MN, forearm soreness, anterior shoulder soreness (it can be bilateral or quadricep too, don't forget) & others sure to come down the pike...
...another complete non-effort last night, & the boos should be cascading down from the Target Stadium stands

...now it's the Sawx & Yanks -- the real thing

1-0 for the bad guys, 2 more 2 go -- things getting a little chippy...? -- Youk back by end of week -- Beckett in Shut-Down mode tonite -- props to Jeter, he's playing banged up, playing thru it just as he has his whole career -- get well soon A-Rod, another proven gamer...

they got us -- 2-1 NYY
( )

I dunno Doug -- the Twinkies are the perfect tonic for LAA this weekend -- & you know what the Rangiz are in for -- I see things tightening up in the AL West -- just yankin' ya chains brother -- good weekend indeed

How I Wish this subject could be left alone -- someday I'm going to write a book about the evolution of MLB injuries -- especially the latest, as reported in this morning's paper -- J.D. Drew, coming back from the DL for what they called "a shoulder impingement"
(read: JOSH REDICK)

Drew, during a rehab game yesterday,
"while playing for Pawtucket, SPRAINED A KNUCKLE on his right middle finger"

In between whimpers of agony J.D. offered up an explanation in the paper -- I'd never stink up this site by reprinting it -- it didn't happen on an HBP & we'll leave it at that

P-U-S-S-I-E-S

nothing but overpaid coddled-to crybabies -- I know I'm the only one who bitches about this but darnit, NONE of these injuries do you see in other sports -- OK over & out on that -- GoBoSo-xxx -- we are in wail mode this weekend, & happy holiday weekend indeed on the ABB site

Tigers looked good this weekend. Was most impressed with Saturdays win and today all I have to say is Doug Fister was on. 13 K's in 8 innings then Valverde came in and got save #41

I've been hearing about that kid for about two years now and I'm not even from NY. I watched that game and it was really cool to see him get two curtain calls. As good as he was, I think Posada should hang it up after the playoffs this year.

playoff field is set -- gosh -- if Atlanta-Phila last night was any sort of a playoff preview...the Phillies are fillin up the box scores -- if they don't go all the way, dumb luck in favor of the other team would have played a part

the collapse is complete in MN -- Twins in last place in the AL Central -- & 1st place in hospital bills/rehab assignments for strains etc

still two div. races going on, in the AL -- 2 1/2 in both -- NYY going good right now, they won't pull away though --
as long as TB is still alive mathematically, they're dangerous -- they make me nervous, they always play their best against the Sox

Rootin' Fa'the Sawx...

I've been hoping forever for a Phillies-Tigers World Series and maybe this will be the year. If so I'm going to have to find a way to get to a game. I was born and raised in the suburbs of Philly and spent over 30 years around Detroit. I guess I'd have to wear my Phillies t-shirt and Tigers cap. No...on second thought I'd be 100% behind the Tigers. Probably won't happen, but it's fun to think about. I did get to a World Series game in 1984 (Tigers/Padres) at old Tiger Staium and it was great fun.

Im thinking he wont even make the playoff roster.
I hope he does hang it up. It would kill me to see him in another Uni

Yeah, I think you'll agree with this: I still can't get used to seeing Mattingly in a Dodgers uniform.

And Bernie Williams was probably my favorite Yankee and I'm glad he just decided to retire even though he didn't want to. Couldn't imagine seeing number 51 in a different uniform.

I cant watch Dodger games at all
Though I am happy for him.

As for Bernie..I have nightmares about stuff like that
I was mortified the first time I saw Pettitte in a Astros jersey
