CC falls to 0-4 against Boston. Jacoby Ellsbury is making a case for MVP.

All tied up again, with a national audience tonight for the rubber game. Gotta love baseball.

Wait, the Red Sox and Yanks are on national TV? Hold the phone!! God, I can't get enough of watching those two teams play each other (eyes rolling).

Gotta love 5-hour baseball games of the same teams you see all the time.

It should be that way, they're the two best teams in baseball (outside of Philly) & the oldest rivalry it's 1-1 -- go Sawx

What about Kemp in the NL for MVP -- LA is going nowhere but he's still top 5 in average & power #s, plus 28 stolen bases -- none too shabby

but yes, Ellsbury -- what a year

Hey Lee, howzabout some cheese with that whine.

One question that is on my mind after this weekend...who do I dislike more, Tim McCarver or Bobby Valentine? I think it is a toss up.

Ooh, I agree that it is a tossup with those two. Joe Buck would win that contest hands down though if you added him in there.

But the worst, Worst, WORST announcer to ever roam the earth is Ken Harrelson.

And my wife is a die-hard White Sux fan and all of their games are on TV here. I make her mute the volume.

Oh and regarding the Yanks / Red Sox, 4 hours and 15 minutes to play that game last night. That's a long time to listen to Booby Valentine.

Factoid of the day...

Since Mo Rivera became the Yankees closer in 1997, he is now 58 of 74 in all regular- and postseason save opportunities against the Red Sox, a save percentage of just .784. Against everyone else, the number is .904.

Is there a point to that "meaningful" statistic?

That was a great game last night.

Maybe the Sox have solved The Cutter.

Not really, except perhaps that unlike the rest of the league, the Red Sox don't fear the reaper.

Or maybe he's finally showing his age...5 blown saves in 2011 already, same as all of last season and 1 more will match is careeer high...Papelbon was about getting ridden out of town last season by his 5th blown save (Pap only has 1 in 2011...contract year).

Papelbon seemed lost last year which really surprised me.

Jose Valverde of the Tiggers hasn't blown one save all season. Far cry from the days of Todd Jones.

Yes, and I can understand why you'd want to look back rather than forward.

The guy is awesome -- no one pitcher will tame our lineup for too long -- it shows what a good team we've put on the field over the years (NY too), being able to consistently hit a great pitcher like that w/the game on the line -- Sabathia too, the big guy has shut down everyone but the BO-Soxes

...but it's more than what we did last night against Nathan -- I admite it, In That Situation, w/Joe in to try to keep the game tied, I was rooting for him to do that -- but the Sox got two excuse-me hits off him, & another legit single, & beat him -- one of them was a broken-bat mistake that dropped behind 3rd base -- Nathan I thought had good stuff, his ball had good motion & speed -- again, we're just smokin' w/the bats right now -- Sudden Sam McDowell himself would be shakin' in his shoes...

ROCK ON BOSTON BORN & BRed Sox

Just saw that the Yanks benched Jorge Posada, likely for good. Bummer of a way to go out as it looks like he is done.

Red Sox win again, lead up to 2.5 (unfortunately Lee probabaly missed it since it wasn't on national TV).

Was listening to WEEI out of Boston talk about last night's yanks game this morning...AJ couldn't get it done again (although to be fair his pitching line wasn't as horrible as usual), Grandy man falls for the old fake-to-3rd-throw-to-first trick (I don't think I've ever seen that work before), and Mo blows his second consecutive game (not a blown save since they were tied). They even played Sterling's call of Abreu's home run. Sounds like it was another stellar night for the bombers.

This is kinda funny. I have the MLB channel. This isn't the deal where you can watch any team you want, they just have one game on three nights a week. So last night they had the Tigers/Indians game on. I'll be damned if there wasn't about a 2-hour rain delay in the second inning.

So I got to see a lot of the Boston game.

I saw the end of the Tigers/Indians game at about 2:00am. Indians won with a walk-off hit-by-pitch by Pauley in the bottom of the 14th. Incredibly dissapointing.

Heard about it in the morning. I went to bed. When I saw it went 14 innings I was surprised they finished it.
