in fact all the divisions are pretty lame, except for the NL East (Phila/Atlanta) & AL East (Sawx/NYY, maybe TB )

true but mlast year's World Series participants, SF & Tex., are both 55-41 & going good (esp. Texas)

but yep, the Bucs -- who get a look at former 20-game winner Dontrelle Willis tonite -- if they're patient at the plate they should draw a bunch of walks & win --

Twinkies lost the fist of 2 2 the Tribe -- watch, Joe Nathan will be lights out from now on -- gwsoon Kubel, Justin, DSpan etc (the Hughes kid deserves to play no matter when Justin comes back, almost the same thing w/Revering too...)

aboveawl else, rock on Sox -- they didn't deserve to win that game last night w/as many LOBs as they had -- But ( ) -- We'll Take It --
we're winning even in the face of some of the boys' BAs dropping -- but big Papi getting ready to go back above .300, you can see it -- Tek did nothing at the plate but caught all 16 innings -- Adrian Gonzales, "MVP, MVP, MVP..."

Gee, that could make the Astros vs. Cubs game at 1:20 seem almost insignifigant.

Or more significant. Heh...

I suppose you can make a case for both Alomar and Blyleven. But I don't really care for either of them getting in. Alomar has always been unprofessional IMO (regardless of the spitting incident) and Blyleven totally comes off unprofessional championing for his induction year after year after year.

Tigers took 3 of 4 from Minnesota this weekend

Glad they have a new 3rd baseman anybody was an upgrade from Inge

Now they just need to keep winning series and Id like to see them add a starting pitcher

Yep, the Tygiz have quietly moved 2 games in front in the AL Central...
I think the Twins are going to get on a roll though -- according to their website "there is no timetable" for the return of DSpan & Justin M -- that Hughes kid didn't work out but most of their players are back, rested & hyped not to disappoint their sellout crowds any more like against Detroit -- it all depends on how their pitching holds up -- Drew Butera, who's hitting about .100, hurts them when he catches...

their website is also quoting Gardenhire that Denard "will be the team's starting center fielder when he returns..." I think they'll be rethinking that when push comes to shove -- they are super-extra cautious w/concussions, players included, and Revere (not "Revering" Stephen) has been too solid & hard-nosed to just yank outta there...get well soon DSpan & JMo -- two players who have contributed a Lot to this team -- & it's not that they Shouldn't play, but if the TC is cooking & going good &, say, pull into a first-place tie by Labor Day -- do not mess w/that lineup

no matter -- Wake w/his 2,000th strikeout -- now we have another easy opponent, KC, coming in -- AG yes -- MVP frontrunner -- but Jacoby Ellsbury -- the guy is playing out of his head -- I thought he was a bit of a slacker missing all that time last season but no way -- in short, the Sox are flat-out wailin' at the moment

Chone Figgins and Jayson Werth -- free-agent BUSTS, like almost none that came before them -- and there have been a lot

So what's the score, genius
Tex 18, Twins 1
that's a roll alright -- a long roll, downhill

cancellations tonight though, so the Pirates are on TV

Go Sox

Ervin Santana threw a no hitter for the Angels today, Cleveland scored a run but Angels won. Has someone thrown a no hitter and lost?

In 1959 Harvey Haddix of the Pirates threw 12 innings of a perfect game. Then there was an error and they ended up losing the game.

12 innings?!?!

I wasn't claiming it was a no-hitter (obviously it wasn't), just in awe that the guy threw 12 perfect innings. Pretty impressive. And then they end up losing the game.

That was the best game ever pitched.

Yep, a 12-inning perfect game -- hard to top that, even if he did lose

Wonder if someone will pick up Matt Stairs for the stretch run
43 years old, who's made a living as a utility player -- he was a regular w/Oakland for awhile -- he was with the Sox way early in his career -- if no one does, there's a guy who's carved one heck of a career for himself, in an un-famous way

Go Sox

As a die-hard Tiggers fan, I'll never dislike anyone more than the worthless Todd Jones.

But boy, Brad Penny is really working his way into the conversation. That guy sucks.

Well worth it. I can't believe Cleveland took him on. Hendry is an idiot for signing the guy for $48mm in the first place.

Ben Revere has hit the wall, in a 5-for-39 slump -- Denard Span played a full nine innings last night for their Triple A team, & at the same time is being mentioned in trade talks -- they shouldn't trade him IMO -- Justin M now being held out of workouts with what they're saying are migraines...

go Sox -- the knuckleball will confound the ChiSox tonight, hopefully igniting a weekend sweep in the Windy City -- Ells, Pedey, Big Papi, Youk, of course MVP AG -- no pitcher is safe from this lineup

it would be huge if the Bucs could beat Halladay tonight

I really like Hunter Pence. My buddy gets corporate tix at Wrigley and it seems like whenever we go, they are playing Houston. Strikes me as an old-school kind of guy which I admire.

Having said that, I don't see him as a difference maker. I was surprised to hear of the clamor to get him.

The Phils had a weakness in two areas, right field and right handed bat. They were trying to bring Dominic Brown along, but he wasn't coming along fast enough. Everyone knows he'll be a talent for the future, but he was hurting them a little.
