And lets alos do something else..

Who do you guys think will be the most improved team?

I have to go with the Mets

Assuming they can manage to stay realitivly healthy, they have a loaded lineup, and one of ( if the THE) best pitcher in baseball.. rest of rotation is just a big ??????

Ok, some of you have gotten predictions in so here are mine.

National League

West Division--Dodgers all the way
Central-The Cards are always a safe pick
East-Marlins----this is a veteran team ready to take off
Wild Card--Phils
MVP--Pujols is money in the bank
CY Young-Josh Johnson--Marlins
Most Improved team--Marlins

AL

West--Angels
East-Yanks
Central-Twins
Wildcard-Red Sox
Most improved team--Seattle
CY Young-Verlander
MVP-Arod
Batting champ-Mauer

Marlins over the Yanks for the title

I thought the most improved team was Seattle. But now I hear that Lee will start on the DL. We'll see how that goes.

I was thinking of them too.. Chone Figgins is a hell of a catalyst..
Soooo happy he is out of Anahiem

However, the Mariners also have Mr. Tranquility Milton Bradley.

Hence the reason I chose your Mets most improved..

As good as Lee and Figgins are..
Bradley is THAT bad of a problem, IMO

It'll be interesting to see how the Twins adapt to their new park.

It's a team that was built to play in that dome...

They had a huge homefield advantage in the Metrodome.

Yea, from what I could tell, that place was LOUD in the playoffs..

Though with Nathan out, I dont think they have to worry about that

Opposing defenders won't miss that baseball-colored roof of the Metrodome.

Although the crowd noise certainly was a factor in the 1987 and 1991 run, I think the advantage the team got was from the turf and the white roof. This is a team thats chopped a lot of doubles off of that plastic field.

I just checked. He hit .388 with 16 HR's at home, .345 with 12 HR's on the road. Yeah, he's toast.

[Edited on 4/3/2010 by Otie]

Yup.. toast

I really think this is going to be the Marlins year.

This is a really talented team with some veteran talent and some great young players.

I really love their pitching and their depth.

Mrs. Strat is salivating! Me... if the players went on strike and the season got canceled, I wouldn't lose any sleep.

That being said, the best part will be the McCourts' divorce proceedings. As soon as the Dodgers lose three games in a row, everyone will blame the divorce. It will make for good theater!

Rays have a really good team. Unfortunately, they are in the division with the two biggest spenders, but ya never know. Longoria is a potential HOFer.

gosh he was a good pitcher -- a "junkballer" in every good sense of the word -- w/him, McNally, Pat Dobson, Palmer etc., the Orioles were top dogs in the late 60s-early 70s

that was a staff. r.i.p. miguel

That pitching staff is the answer to a trivia question. Name the last team to have four 20-game winners.

And when you talk about feats that will never be met or topped, that has to be one of them.

Surprised some of you have picked my Tiggers in the A.L. Central. Unfortunately, The White Sux look good if they can hit. Their pitching staff is awesome.

If everyone stays healthy the Tigers could have a great season. Potentially the strongest pitching staff in the AL, or not, depending on Willis, Bonderman, Robertson. Jackson and Sizemore are unproven but looked good in Spring. Ordonez should have a stronger season this year and Cabrera appears to have put his problems in the past. I think they have a very good chance to win the division.

They traded Robertson, thank God. I don't think their rotation is all that great to be honest. After the top two, what do they have? You can't rely on Willis IMO but he did enough in spring training to make them think Robertson was expendable.

I'm cautiously optomistic but Willis? Bonderman??

With the Twinkies losing thier closer, that division is WIDE open..

I do like the Tribe though.

If Carmona can get back on track that is.

They have a ton of young talent.

carmona is pitching great this spring. it remains to be seen if it'll carry through into the season. i wouldn't put my hopes on them doing much this year. when the ace of your staff (westbrook) hasn't thrown in a major league game in almost 2 years it's hard to get your hopes up.
