Rangers let one slide last night against the A's. We'll see what they do tonight.

I'm tellin' ya, they have a shot to make some noise this year. Obviously Cliff Lee is huge. I think the biggest issue is the first round depending on who they will play in a 5-game series. Hot pitchers can take a good team down (wish they would just go to a 7-game series).

And as a Tiggers fan, don't get me going on Juan Gonzalez. Give him some more 'roids.

Baseball playoffs are fine as is unless we can cut the regular season down.

Which for me still begs the question why did they trade Cliff Lee he is better than Roy Oswalt

That did not make any damn sense..

Oswalt is good, but Lee is better..IMHO

But Oswalt is still damn good! I think this is perfect for him because he doesnt have to be "the man" in Philly.. Thats for Mr. Halliday

Agreed

What Im wondering is are the Phils going to be facing problems in the future with how much payroll they have guaranteed over the next few years and trading away alot of young talent is will they be to old to win

Any bets on how many the Rays will take from the Yanks this weekend?
I'm going with 2 out of 3.

There were rumors of Werth to the Yanks for Javy Vazquez..

I HATE Javy, and I really didnt see the point in acquiring Werth. He is a good player, but Swisher is doing a great job out in RF as well..
Leave well enough alone, I say.

Glad the Phils got Oswalt, but I wish they kept Lee. Looks to me the reason they traded Lee was the old lack of communication problem. Phils thought they couldn't afford Lee after 2010 and Lee (or his agent) said after the trade that wasn't necessarily so.For what they gave up for Halliday and Oswalt they could have kept Lee and gave those guys up for Halliday.

Still wish I bought a Lee Phils jersey.

As a Houston fan, I hope J Happ works out better than Pedro Feliz has. But I notice he's got control problems and has spent most of the year in Triple-A. Feliz has been a total bust, hitting .213 and his glove at third has been a disappointment as well. They would have been much better off holding onto Ty Wiggington. The Astros have a long history of bad signings and getting the short end of trades.

Happ got hurt early in the season (first game, I think) and has been rehabing.

When the Phils had Feliz he was a disappointment with the bat, but his glove was good. Then again after David Bell anyone who could just get the ball to first was an improvement.

Cliff Lee has made a huge impact on a young Ranger's pitching staff. He's all those guys talk about. The Rangers with good pitching and defense? End times.

Lots of ways to win ballgames besides 3-run homers. Nothing wears down a lineup faster than showing up at the park every day thinking they have to score 6-7 runs to win.

Thats been the Rangers modis operandi for the past 35 years, and why they have always faded this time of year. Maybe this year really will be different.

Now the Astros send Lance Berkman plus $4 Million to the Yankees for two marginal prospects. WTF is going on down there?

Rangers play the rubber match with the Angels tonight in Anaheim. THey could really put some distance between them and the A's over the next two weeks. Still curious as to how they will hold up.
