I know they're not a northeast team. But since this is a MLB thread, and they do have the best ranking in MLB............

The Braves are in danger of losing eight straight, behind 6-0 in the sixth at St. Louis. The bats are dead.

I'm liking what I am seeing from St. Louis - a few come from behind victories lately....

Their fans don't seem too crazy about them though, only 12K at their game last night -- weird -- the NL team down there doesn't draw much eigther -- the Rays look Bad -- yikes

O's win in 10

Tejada with a 8th inning homer to tie, and gets the game winning RBI in the 10th.

As a Detroit fan I wasn't happy with the Granderson for Jackson trade, but right now Jackson is leading the league in hits while Grandy is on the DL. Looks like a great trade for the Tigers after all.

Damn, the Phillies are teeing off on Santana. Four homeruns, two in 4th including a grand slam by Victorino. Then Utley hit a tape measure shot. Time for the hook, Jerry!

Told ya..
The Yanks were high on Jackson for years..I still say this trade was a huge mistake on the Yanks part.

I can't believe Jamie Moyer has 262 wins.

What about Zack Grienke -- a complete-game four-hitter yesterday, & lost 1-0 -- a 2.27 ERA, and the Cy Young winner has an 0-3 won-lost record -- I mean the guy must be getting to hate the game of baseball

now he knows how Steve Lefty Carlton must have felt in 1972...or Luis Tiant for that matter too, when he went 9-20 with the Indians & still pitched awesome

Well, Carlton did get the Cy Young that year. It was the rest of the Phillies that stunk.

He's been pitching since 1925.

He's going to keep going until his age matches his number.

They only won 59 games total that year.

He should have been the last 30-game winner rather than Denny McClain.

I'm tellin' ya, these ballplayers have the bodies of 40-50 year olds w/all the injuries they seem to incur -- I mean would Lefty Carlton have come out of a game because of a hurtie? NO -- mainly because modern ballplayer$$$ have grown new body parts -- like the oblique -- and the hip flexor -- and the rotator cuff -- and their own custom hamstrings and ribcage, that strain every time they have to run out a ground ball -- just as Curtis Granderson -- baseball's newest multimillionaire & he's on the DL -- injured -- While Running The Bases -- it's not just a "strain" either, according to the paper it's something brand new -- -- a "Grade 2" strain --

it's an insult & these ballplayers are PUSSIES -- they do nothing in spring training to prepare physically for the season -- little hurties that would have been nothing to players when they had to EARN their living, & before guaranteed contracts
I mean the proof's in the pudding -- what about this (from yesterday)
"RH reliever Pat Neshek (inflamed tendon in right middle finger) was placed on the DL. To make room for C Wilson Ramos, the Twins wanted to option Neshek to Class AAA Rochester. But when they told Neshek of that plan, the reliever revealed that his finger, which he had said was better after troubles with it that surfaced in April, was still bothering him and he wanted to go on the DL rather than be demoted"
what that says to me is that Pat Neshek doesn't care about being labeled a chickenshit, & the inmates ($) run the asylum -- "inflamed tendon, middle finger" -- wah wah -- one month into the season & they're already acting like spoiled babies
That was a good one alloak ), sorry for getting so carried away
Go Sox

That is sad. He always seemed like a class act. It's been sort of a bad patch for great baseball announcers. Skip Caray, Harry Kalas, now Ernie Harwell. Bob Uecker is recovering from heart surgery and will miss the next three months.
