An international team of scientists has determined that the Atlantic Ocean rose faster in the 20th century than at any time in the last 4,000 years

another example of human activity on climate.

I agree with you.....but I don't think some others will.

John,

I read the article, but didn't see anything in there that served as an example to prove that man is responsible for this. What part of the article suggested this?

Mike

Sounds like land movement could be part of the problem.

Several questions on the article:

1) "lost due to subsidence as the earth continues to rise in response to the removal of the huge weight of ice sheets during the last glacial period"

Why would the sea level go UP when the land is RISING?

2) They show that the sea level has been rising for over 4,000 years.

What caused the previous rise in sea level?

3) You didn't bring up the question about the difference in sea level as to how far north or south you are.

Could it be that the "scientists" who did the study forgot that the tides, thus sea level height, are higher as you go toward the Equator, and lower as you go away from the Equator?

4) A question on it's own: What makes the sea level change from higher to lower anyway?
Could it be the cyclic nature of climate from freeze to thaw, ice age to warm period, times when almost 90% of all water was locked in ice-which then thawed out and re-filled the almost empty oceans?

Just asking questions that maybe you can find the answers for SpaceMonkey.
