I agree with most of those listed so far. Different styles and approaches, but all good.

I would have to add Mike Mattison; he's like the Swiss Army knife of vocalists.

Eddie Vedder and Susan Tedeschi are 2 singers who really can do it live. A lot of singers are studio wonders; these two really deliver it on stage.

Some singers I love because of their amazing sound and attitude and uniqueness are Bon Scott, David Bowie, Johnny Rotten, Paul Westerberg, and Jeff Tweedy.

Rod Stewart's early stuff & Faces & Jeff Beck Band is wonderful. He was a truly great singer who really made you feel it.

Finally: Rick Danko. Pure soulful vocals.

Lots of good suggestions here but no one has mentioned John Cowan currently of the Doobie Brothers.

Interesting choice, I can't help but wonder how spectacular she would be with a change of musical direction. Horns, B-3, Ray Charles, Bobby Blue Bland etc....

If we're going to rate vocalists on how good they were/are then my top ten are all opera. Luciano Pavarotti was the best voice I ever heard. Sonya Yoncheva, Elina Garanca...the list is a mile long.

My favorite? Nothing more magical than Gregg with an acoustic guitar and a mic.

I agree with most mentioned, but I haven't seen James Taylor or BB King mentioned. I love JT, his vocals off Sweet Baby James, Mud Slide Slim, & That's Why I'm Here are some of my favorite vocal performances on disc.

BB King is on another level, known for his Lucille he has the most heart attack style on his staccato vocal barrage. Hearty with love and angst.

There's a few southern rockers I like current and past. From Elvis to Charlie Starr.
