Kenny Wayne Shepherd came into New York City last night for a BackStory Interview with Brad Tolinski. He was joined by Noah Hunt the band's lead singer since '96. I've been a KWS fan since the beginning. It was sweet to hear the interview for me. I've known (or thought I've known) some of the background of Kenny's Dad's radio/promoter background and the little kid sidestage watching Stevie Ray Vaughan. Stevie Ray had taken the Blues to special places. Stevie always credited the Two Texas Albert's (Collins & King), BB King, Lonnie Mack, Hubert Sumlin, and his other influences for his launching point and Kenny Wayne Shepherd has done the same.

I've seen him regularly since the Trouble Is... Tour. One of my favorite BB King Blues tours was the one with Kenny Wayne and Tower Of Power. I've seen him with Buddy Guy and to hear him tell the stories of the tour interactions was fun to hear. I also dug the stories of Stephen Stills (I wonder if the ol' Dickey story is true?). I had 3rd Row seats for the Bergen Pac a couple years back and was psyched for the show and then a family event popped up for my son so I had to pass the tix on. I didn't go for a cash back, I passed it on to another musical enthusiast who was as overjoyed to attend as I was. Money is cheap, Life is about Friends, Family, Experiences, & a combination thereof.

I couldn't find a link to the BackStory interview, I will edit it in if I find it or one pops up. I'll include the official site and those interested can check for updates and other events? KWS and NH were slotted for 3 tunes and they played 4 taking a request from the audience I'm A King Bee (Ohhhh so many options ran thru my head). Just 2 men and 2 Strats for 4 songs. Nice. KWS has a new album coming out on May 31st called The Traveler. They played 2 songs from it, Woman Like You (w/Noah on vocals) and I Want You (w/KWS on vocals). The crowd shouted out a couple requests and Blue On Black was granted. Special intimacy and short sets, but special little events are these interviews by BackStory. Brad Tolinski and Alan Paul. I'm not sure if there are other interviewers, but I haven't caught a bad one yet. Satriani and his G3 cohorts didn't play any tunes, but it's a small gripe that Brad sais last night Joe's bringing some strings next time, I'll make sure to be there.

Thanks for the videos, always like Iím A King Bee, nice sound with two guys playing guitar. Noah Hunt is a a pretty good vocalist most people donít know of. Saw KWS open twice for Great Southern in the mid 2000ís, great pairing...

Hey now, I am busting in here on Fretsman's thread to tell Ya'll that I saw The KWS Band Saturday night and they really put in a great show! First I want to say it was great to see Whipper Layton on drums, love his style, never seems in a hurry, never even looks like he's moving fast, but he always gets there on time!!! Second the horns add so much, a sax and a trumpet, the Trumpeter just played in a very physical style, took a lot of chances and really layed it out on the line. Great keys and solid rytham section. Kenny playing was excellent as always, i love yhe Young guitar players, but enjoy the pickers as they mature and develop, particularly enjoyed paying attention to the very different tones he wouldid extract from his axes, started the show with 2 tunes on a sharp looking black Les Paul, then a variety of Strats, all with distinct tones, and toward the end, thought I saw a Gibson Firebird, real nice show........Peace....joe
