I also have thought this for years: The three pointer has done a lot to ruin the game. If a 6'10" forward maneuvers in the lane, puts on some fancy moves against a very tough 6'10" defender, then throws up a hook shot over him that hits nothing but net, do you really mean to tell me that this basket is worth one point less than someone throwing up a 25 foot jump shot? I'm not buying that and I never did. I'd love it if the NBA discarded the three point shot and went back to more traditional basketball.

I'm a Celtics fan since the 60's. It's hard to watch some nights.

3 and a half steps to the hoop, changing pivot feet, carrying the ball.

I stopped watching and caring 20 years ago.

26 years for me. I quit watching and caring when Bird retired.

Yet there is great talent in the league too, particularly among the big men nowadays -- Nikola J of Denver is the best player in the league IMO, a 7-foot triple double threat every game (40/10/8 last night) -- same Giannis -- Embiid, Kanter (when w/a decent team) -- AD, Rudy Gobert etc etc

Cousins last year also -- he, LeBron & Rajon all return this month -- GSW was amazing w/Bogut, Zaza & those centers -- a starting 5 of DeM., Curry Thompson Durant & Draymond Green -- on paper there's no match in the league

EXCEPT IN BOSTON -- we're fine, will pass Phila soon -- we can beat GSW
The Markelle/Melo mysteries meander on:yawn:

Jordan and Magic didnít do it for you, huh? Seems odd to stop watching and caring during that legendary era.

You have to consider that every business must evolve its product in order to succeed. The 3-pointer adds much-needed value to the game, as does the dunk. With attracting new customers, your business will die. I understand not liking it, but itís inevitable, and happening in all sports - some changes I think are for the better.

Well in the interest of accuracy except for the 32 game return 4 years later Magic retired before Bird but I agree with your point in any event.

If you quit a sport because one player retired, you were never a fan of that sport, but rather a fan of the player. Nothing wrong with that. I wonder why Larry Bird though, and no interest in Michael Jordan? The best player ever?

GS dropped 51 last night in first quarter and 142 for the game.
Pacers had 131 yesterday.

I played 1 year of JC ball (I am 6'-4") and coached for a while after that; understand the nuances of the game very well. When I was younger and really into the pro-game, older folks would tell me I need only watch the first 5 minutes and the last 5, to see the whole game, I vehemently disagreed. Now, I could not agree more, bores me to tears.

Add, what could possibly happen in a Pro game you've never seen before?

I was looked at by 5 colleges/universities when I was a junior in HS. I'm 6'7" and could SHOOT. I was a hoops fan since I was 12. Followed all sports Boston/New England religiously so Bird wasn't necessarily the reason why I watched, just using him as a reference point in time. As I get older, pro sports has, for me anyway, become boring, 'cept maybe football

Heh heh...

You're wishful Stephen..........we'll see about that one.

I should say we'll see about it.........IF Boston makes it to the championship. Philly just got a LOT deeper and their roster is looking every bit as good as yours...........you've got a very tough row to hoe now.

No tougher than it was before -- I'm more worried about Mil and Tor than Phila

Big, BIG win tonight for the Lakers including a great comeback. This will do wonders for their confidence as will getting LeBron back. Especially sweet after a 42 point loss in Indiana a few days ago amidst all the trade rumors regarding Anthony Davis.

It was nice to see the Pacers give LeBron this worse beating of his career .

I wonder how much dissension James caused in the locker room when he tried to trade everyone for AD and what he (Davis)is doing to the Pelicans. The NBA amazes me in so many ways
